We are a progressive care unit providing services to both neurology and cardiac patients. On 7 south you can expect: To work closely with DePaul’s Interdisciplinary Stroke, Neurosurgery, and Epilepsy teams while forming strong interprofessional relationships. Develop time management skills with teams of 5 patients per nurse. Perfecting your nursing skills in assessment, critical thinking, blood draws, IV insertion and infusion management, EKG interpretation, advanced cardiac life support, seizure first aid, and post-stroke management such as alternative nutrition methods and therapy interventions. Job Responsibilities and Requirements: PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES Uses standards of medical-surgical nursing practice to increase the quality of care and quality of life for the patient, family, and significant other(s) by systematically evaluating the quality and effectiveness of nursing practice. Uses the nursing process to develop and implement the plan of care, collect assessment data for each patient, determine appropriate nursing diagnoses, identify expected patient outcomes, determine the plan of care, implement interventions, and evaluate patient outcomes.
