Overview
We’re looking for a Fire Protection Engineer, who is excited about working on industrial facilities projects that enable the heart of our client’s business. You’ll be accountable for the schedule and technical quality of challenging engineering tasks, as you gain familiarity with the client’s expectations, scope, budget, and schedule. Complying with FM Global Data Sheets, National Fire Protection Association, and other national consensus standards. Serve as the responsible engineer in matters involving fire protection systems on industrial projects. Your multi-discipline, highly interactive team will successfully deliver on the design, development, application, evaluation, recommendation, and specification of fire protection engineered systems and products for building systems and components.
Responsibilities
- Working knowledge of Hydracad Software.
- Forward thinking, eager to learn best practices, and contribute with innovative ideas.
- Displayed ability to learn quickly and driven to broaden the knowledge base
- Familiarity with Revit, AutoCAD, and Navisworks. Autodesk Construction Cloud is a plus.
- Industrial design experience including automotive manufacturing, pharmaceutical manufacturing, and industrial buildings.
- Interpret and apply applicable NFPA Standards to the design/layout based on building type, hazard classification, architectural characteristics, etc.
- Develop and create fire protection systems design criteria for industrial buildings.
- Designs a complete project, system, component, process, or unique aspects as it relates to fire protection.
- Performs and documents engineering hydraulic calculations related to fire protection systems to select code-compliant systems and equipment.
- Coordinate with various disciplines during the design process.
- Develop process improvements / workflows / templates to increase design productivity and quality of deliverables.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related.
- Minimum of eight-ten (6 -10) years’ experience in Fire Protection Engineering required.
- Advanced knowledge in NFPA standards and FM Global Data Sheets.
- Strong CAD/Revit experience.
- Ability to work cross-functionally and with large teams.
- Strong communication skills to explain complex technical challenges and solutions clearly and concisely.
- Ability to travel to site as needed.
- Collaboration, customer focus, responsibility.
- Bilingual English-Spanish.
- Nicet or NFPA certification is a plus.
