What are the responsibilities and job description for the Payroll Analyst position at SSP America?
Summary/Objective
The Payroll Analyst is responsible for payroll processing, data reporting, paperwork administration and recordkeeping to ensure compliance with basic payroll processes. The position will report to the Payroll Manager and will be based out of the SSP America Support Center in Ashburn, VA.
Essential Functions
- Prepare general ledger (GL) reports and post various payroll journal entries to the accounting system (SAP)
- Process weekly, bi-weekly, and off-cycle payrolls for SSP Team members in multiple U.S. states and Canadian provinces using the Human Resource Management System (Vista HRMS)
- Have some working knowledge of Payroll HRMS in progress (Success Factors)
- Solve payroll issues utilizing expertise and analytical skills
- Respond to customer requests for information both verbally and in writing working with diverse levels of employees; Utilize various resources to ensure a complete and accurate answer is provided.
- Establish and maintain effective communication and working relationships with work colleagues
- Work in partnership with the Accounting Team, HR team and field SSP Ops teams.
- Knowledge of Canadian and US Payroll laws - Wage and Hour – DOL Federal, State, Local, and Union requirements, and Taxes
- Perform various payroll accounts reconciliations (including bank accounts) and resolves payroll discrepancies
- Comply with federal, state, and local payroll legal requirements
- Other related duties as needed or as assigned by manager
Experience/Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related discipline preferred
- Minimum of three (3) years of recent hands-on payroll and payroll processing experience
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Proven knowledge of multi-state payroll processes
- Experience in working with payroll systems; Vista HRMS preferred
