The SSTAR Community Outreach Worker is responsible for providing
rapid HIV testing in the community, conducting outreach among Latinos,
enrolling clients in SAMHSA program, and linking clients to SUD and
HIV care.

Duties & Responsibilities
Provide counseling and testing to individuals who are at risk of
HIV, HEP C, and STI’s.
To interview clients to determine their level of knowledge,
attitudes, and behavior regarding HIV, Hepatitis C, STI’s, and harm reduction.
Collect finger-stick blood samples from patients and follow
universal precautions.
Screens clients for eligibility for the SAMHSA project and enroll
clients using the GPRA form.
Assess potential barriers to care and work with clients to reduce
obstacles resulting from lack of transportation, mental illness,
substance use, etc.
Link clients to medical care and MAT treatment.
Follow-up with clients and collect client data 6 months after enrollment.
Develop appropriate client referrals internally and externally to
the organization.
Collect data on program activities, enter data timely, and
accurately into data systems.
Conduct outreach in the community setting and build relationships
with local venues.
Attend relevant trainings and participate in reginal meeting assigned.
Stay informed about current HIV/HCV/STI trends, development, and research.
Experience and Skills:
Education & Experience
High School graduate with two years of full-time experience in the
field of health care, medical care or public health education in a
recognized hospital, medical facility, or agency.
Bilingual in Spanish.
Ability to work some evenings and weekends as needed.
Sensitivity to HIV issues and people with disabilities required.
Must be open to working with people from diverse backgrounds,
cultures, and lifestyles in a non-judgmental manner.
