Job Description:
The primary responsibility of the A/V Media Coordinator is to provide technical expertise and team leadership for the church’s sound, media, video, and stage lighting. The A/V Media Coordinator is also responsible for remote a/v meeting management capabilities,  audio/video technical and creative development, production, and training related to the live/post production audio/visual needs of St. Armands Key Lutheran Church.

The A/V Media Coordinator will ensure that worship and AV ministries continue to grow in scope, effectiveness and quality in alignment with the church's vision, mission, values and strategic plans.  

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Ensure AV equipment is available and correctly set up for meeting and program use.
  • Run sound, lighting, and live-streaming for each regular Sunday liturgy (and other possible weekend services), as well as all scheduled church festivals, liturgies, and special events (i.e. Christmas, Ash Wednesday, weekday Lenten services, Holy Week, Easter Sunday, Christmas on the Circle, church concerts, etc.) 
  • All technical aspects of developing SAKLC’s “online church”
  • Produce regular media content (i.e. church services, pastoral videos, music videos, communications from church leadership, etc.) for distribution (via social media, Constant Contact, targeted marketing, etc.), in consultation and collaboration with the Minister of Music
  • Work with the church’s website and various social media platforms, in consultation and collaboration with the Minister of Music, Pastor, and Director of Operations.
  • Partner with the worship team to develop plans and strategies for on-going A/V related improvements and build-outs.
  • Attend a weekly church staff meeting, the quarterly Worship & Music Committee meeting, and any other applicable meetings/committees as needed.
  • Begin to identify, develop, and train a small team of volunteers from within the congregation to delegate certain AV responsibilities 
  • Produce a short update on the AV ministry for each edition of the bi-monthly church newsletter and a report for the church’s Annual Report
  • Maintain a weekly “Online Attendance Report” and compile usage metrics
  • Continually work on developing and improving skills for use in ministry so that the AV ministry can grow. Participation in learning opportunities is encouraged and expected.
  • Maintain and catalog AV equipment
  • Maintaining the AV budget (under Worship & Music) within approved annual guidelines as well as developing written strategic and expenditure proposals as needed throughout the year.
  • Be available for sound checks and troubleshooting with Saturday evening & Sunday morning musicians and worship leaders in advance of worship
  • Offer technical support, within reason, to members with regard to accessing the church’s online content 
  • Run occasional (2-3 a year) workshops for members (e.g. “Using your tablet”, “How to use Zoom”, etc.)

  • Possesses a strong passion to support and respect the ministry of SAKLC.
  • Belief in cooperative teamwork with other members of the SAKLC staff, church council, and ministry teams
  • Comfortable and proficient in working with a variety of audio, video, media, and lighting equipment.
  • Proficiency in working with interactive media configurations.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills.
  • Proficient in necessary sound and video editing software programs.
  • Skilled in all levels of video production (pre-production, production, post-production, camera operation, editing, motion graphics, sound design, color correction, etc.).
  • Able to work in a rapidly changing environment with multiple priorities.

Experience:
Two or four-year degree in an audio-visual or related field; or two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Staff Relationship:
Under direct supervision of the Director of Operations; Accountable to the Pastor and Congregation President

Compensation:
Annual compensation for this position will be between $45,000 and $55,000, commensurate with experience, considering a 35-40 hour work week. There is an understanding that certain times of the year will be busier than others (e.g. the summer months will be less busy than November through May). Benefits are negotiable.

Additional compensation for projects outside the scope of this job description will be negotiated separately (e.g. weddings, funerals, non-SAKLC special events/concerts, etc.). 
  • Performance reviews: Year 1 - 30, 60, 90 day review; annually thereafter.
  • 7 paid holidays including: New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Day after Thanksgiving, Christmas Day.
  • 10 days of paid vacation (including 2 Sundays) and 6 personal days after one year of employment.
