POSITION SUMMARY:

Students or 2024 graduates are encouraged to apply. This is an introductory position to support the goals of the St. Clair County Regional Educational Service Agency(SCCRESA) IT department. The Temporary Part-Time Technician will mainly focus on project initiatives and Helpdesk tickets. Other duties include providing troubleshooting, problem resolution, asset management, and infrastructure support. This position is temporary. The last day of work for this position will be Friday, September 27, 2024.

 

SUPERVISION:

Work is performed under the direct supervision of IT Client Service Managers and the general direction of the Associate Directors, and Director.

Reports to: Director, Associate Directors, & Client Service Managers of IT, SCCRESA

Supervisory Responsibilities: None

 

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:

 

AN EMPLOYEE IN THIS CLASSIFICATION, UPON APPOINTMENT, MUST HAVE THE FOLLOWING TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

 

  1. Excellent attendance history, schedule management & commitment follow-through.
  2. Ability to follow written and verbal directions and to complete assigned tasks on schedule.
  3. Ability to read, write, communicate & present in English and understand basic math, including ability to interpret and apply procedures, rules, technical information, instructions and manuals.
  4. Ability to learn from directions, observations, and mistakes; and apply procedures using good judgment.
  5. Ability to work independently or as part of a team; ability to interact appropriately with others.
  6. Ability to work with supervision, receiving instructions/feedback, coaching/counseling and/or action/discipline.
  7. Ability to be flexible and demonstrate patience and respect in difficult situations. Ability to effectively communicate and interact with diverse populations in both oral and written form.
  8. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with SCCRESA staff, Clients, contractors, vendors and the general public.
  9. Ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.
  10. Ability to use discretion and maintain sensitive and confidential information.
  11. Adaptability to change in the work environment, managing competing demands and ability to deal with frequent changes, delays or unexpected events.
  12. Aptitude in performing mathematical calculations and checking figures, postings and documents for correct entry, mathematical accuracy and proper coding.
  13. Knowledge of principles and processes for providing services. This includes client needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
  14. Proficient skills using Microsoft Office and Google Suite.

 

EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, EDUCATION:

 

  1. Student or recent graduate, preferred.
  2. Ability to:
    1. understand and utilize a variety of technologies and applications in order to effectively support clients.
    2. provide remote & on-site IT support
    3. portray a helpful, competent and professional image.
    4. work well with peers, clients (users) and department heads.
    5. install and remove computer equipment and software.
    6. work with departmental staff to identify problems that can be solved through the use of technology.
    7. travel to remote sites.
    8. retain knowledge and understanding of Network operations.
    9. familiarize with most systems utilized by SCCRESA & it’s Clients
    10. consistently & descriptively utilize ticketing system 
    11. maintain consistent positive attitude and initiative
    12. maintain flexible working hours required  

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  1. Assist with project initiatives as directed
  2. Provide remote & on-site IT support to SCCRESA & it’s Clients, adhering to SCCRESA service agreements
  3. Adherence to department norms
  4. Detailed ticketing system utilization 
  5. Foster client and vendor relationships
  6. Work in a collaborative team environment
  7. Transport computer equipment which may weigh as much as fifty (50) pounds
  8. Comply with all safety rules and regulations and SCCRESA policies
  9. Promote the vision, mission and values of the department and SCCRESA
  10. Assist in the overall functions of the Information Technology Department
  11. Perform other assignments as specified by the Director, Associate Directors, & Client Service Managers of Information Technology

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to:

  1. Speak to others to convey information effectively.
  2. Hear and understand information presented through spoken words and sentences.
  3. Use hands to operate a computer, handle materials and operate equipment.
  4. Push or pull carts, reach with hands and arms forward, above and below shoulder level.
  5. Must be capable of lifting box and equipment weights of up to fifty (50) pounds to an approximate height of six (6) feet.
  6. Sit, bend, stoop, crouch, crawl and kneel in an ergonomically correct manner.
  7. Stand and walk, climb stairs.
  8. Be present during normal office hours, from 8:00 a.m. through 4:30 p.m.
  9. Maintain moderate noise level in the work environment, managing many interruptions.
