JOB SUMMARY:
Conduct research, analyze data and provide written and oral reports of findings and recommendations for the special education and student services programs. Work with building special education staff and administration to monitor and assure district compliance with all due process procedural requirements. Serve as a liaison and resource for special education supervisory staff and building special education staff by answering questions and providing information. Provide orientation and training to staff.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintain information systems which contain data on students, services, outcomes, personnel workload, and due process timelines to meet state and federal mandatory reporting requirements and to provide operational, planning, and monitoring reports.
- Provide current, historical and projected data on a variety of statistics to district staff upon request and for grant writing purposes.
- Conduct studies, research, surveys, focus groups, projections, evaluations, and other investigative activities for the special education and student services programs. Provide written/oral presentations of findings and recommendations.
- Coordinate and/or complete program evaluation and compliance activities related to state reporting. Conduct district-wide evaluations of special education files and IEPs in compliance with state-mandated self-monitoring of due process requirements and quality control. Compile and report the results of these evaluations to Special Education Supervisors and Directors and contribute relevant data to the MN Department of Education.
- Provide information to staff concerning special education due process requirements, data collection procedures and IEP quality issues by responding to questions, providing training and orienting new staff.
- Composes letters and other correspondence. Prepare forms, charts, handouts, presentations, procedural manuals and newsletters used in special education and other student services programs.
- Provide assistance to other district staff and programs in organizing, conducting, analyzing, and reporting statewide assessments.
- Coordinate the assessment information system for statewide testing which provides reports that summarize accommodations and/or modifications needed by students, provides information for special order materials, and ensures that alternate assessments are administered to students who are exempt from statewide assessments.
