PRINCIPAL

St. James Catholic School in Washington, Iowa is seeking a principal to lead a parish school representing the families of St. James Parish. This position is effective July 1, 2022.

St. James Catholic School serves 97 students preschool through 5th-grade. St. James Catholic School is a state-accredited school dedicated to providing students with a premier education that will prepare them for a lifetime of success as a faith-filled and active Catholic. The Principal will provide inspirational, confident, growth-minded leadership to carry out the mission of St. James. The Principal is the academic and faith leader, and will work cooperatively with the St. James Board of Education, Superintendent of the Diocese of Davenport, the parish, administration, faculty and staff, students and parents. The Principal reports to the Diocesan Superintendent and the St. James Board of Education. 

As the face of St. James, this position serves as the chief communicator, relationship builder and partner with a wide variety of stakeholders. The Principal develops enrollment strategies, manages operations and, working with faculty and staff, ensures that graduates depart filled with faith, purpose and capability ready for the next chapters of their lives. 

The ideal candidate will be a faithful, innovative, energetic, experienced, organized educator with the ability to work with other Catholic schools in the Diocese, parish leadership, students, families, and the wider parish to support the mission to form disciples of Jesus Christ through Catholic educational excellence. The candidate will lead in the school in its mission and hold a valid Iowa Administrative Licensure. The successful candidate will maintain and grow the exceptional educational program of St. James Catholic School.
