Job Description: The Critical Care Technician functions as a clinical support partner in the Critical Care and Emergency Department settings. They assist the patient care team in the performance of various tasks and procedures for the critically ill patient or patients requiring special skills or observation. Act under the direction and supervision of appropriate clinical licensed personnel. Job Specifics: Benefits Eligible: No Shift Details: Varies Hours: PRN Pay Range: $16.00 - $24.96 hourly Will be required to assist with lab draws as needed. Obtain patients vital signs to include blood pressure, pulse and temperature and understand normal ranges and changes. Inform RNs or Physician of changes in vital signs. Collect blood, urine, saliva and stool samples for laboratory analysis. Insert Foley catheters, perform straight catheters, and provide wound care. Fit patients for casts and/or hard splints, crutches and other devices. Perform 12-lead EKG’s. Provide instruments to doctors and nurses as they perform procedures on patients. Assist with the safe movement of patients, applying principles of safe patient handling. Assist with admitting patients into the ER, schedule patient transfers, reinforce patient education/discharge instructions as given by the RN. Apply, check and document restraints as directed by the RN or Physician. Perform the duties of unit secretary. Maintain patient charts, respond to phone calls, maintain daily assignment board, provide equipment care/cleaning, perform errands associated with patient care and provide accurate information about the patient with interdisciplinary team. Demonstrate and adhere to the standards of infection prevention. Minimum Qualifications Required: High School Diploma or Genera Education Degree (GED) One to three months related experience or training or equivalent combination of education and experience Basic rhythm recognition competency within 6 months of hire BLS required within 3 months of hire Preferred: Current C.N.A. Previous experience in a mental health setting Physical Requirements: Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies.- and -Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations.- and -Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing needed information, medication preparation, etc.- and -Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients. Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items.- and -Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment. This includes pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items. Often required to navigate crowded and busy rooms (full of equipment, power cords on the floor, etc).- and -May be expected to stand in a stationary position for an extended period of time.
