Saint John School is seeking a full-time Early Childhood teacher for the Pre-K program for the upcoming school year.
The ideal candidate will be committed to creating a nurturing classroom environment that supports and advances all students as they grow academically and, in their faith, as unique children of God.
Qualified candidates must bring patience, compassion, and energy to their classroom daily while working in a self-contained classroom environment. Candidates will be responsible for teaching and planning all subjects using the OWL and Building Blocks curricula. Planning daily instruction to meet the learning styles and needs of all children is expected – with learning being centered around a play-based model.
The classroom environment and teacher's style must also effectively support and promote academic and social growth. Ensuring the classroom is a safe, nurturing environment, where age-appropriate respect and supported guidance for behaviors is required. Having compassion, patience, along with a calm demeanor is essential in supporting the learning of younger children.
Engaging in meaningful, frequent, and respectful communication to parents and guardians regarding a child's academics, social, and emotional development is an expectation. Ensuring children are safely engaged in all learning activities throughout the day is a must. Additionally, the classroom space must be kept clean and orderly at all times to promote a safe and nurturing environment.
Strong technology skills are required to support learning across all disciplines. Candidates must be EEC certified, or working towards certification, and be committed to participating in all required professional development.
REQUIREMENTS
Candidates must be practicing Catholics committed to sharing their faith with students in both daily interactions and in how their classroom environment is managed.
Bachelor’s degree is required, with a background in education preferred
EEC certification preferred.
Exceptional proficiency using technology to support, enrich, and differentiate instruction is essential.
Prior successful experience in student teaching or classroom teaching is preferred.
