St. John Lutheran School and Little Lamb Preschool have been providing a Christ-centered education for students in Champaign, Illinois, since 1979. We are dedicated to providing children in preschool through 8th grade with an excellent academic foundation from a Biblical worldview that will thoroughly equip them for high school and beyond. We are looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated Christian School Teacher to join our Middle School team at St. John Lutheran School. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating and delivering engaging lesson plans from a Biblical worldview, assessing student performance, and providing feedback to students and parents. Our ideal candidate has a passion for teaching, a commitment to student success, and the ability to effectively communicate with both students and parents. Qualifications
Professional:
- Has a minimum of a bachelor's degree.
- Is certified by the State of Illinois or is able to meet the standards for such certification.

Job Responsibilities
Administrative:
- Is responsible for implementing policies adopted by the congregation and the St. John Lutheran School Board.
- Is responsible for assisting with the special school programs, religious services, projects, and extra-curricular activities which are assigned as duties by the principal.
- Provides budgetary information to the principal in preparation for the annual budget.
- Maintains a current inventory of computers, textbooks and other instructional materials.
- Maintains adequate and timely records of student achievement.
Instruction:
- Develops and uses a long-range plan of instruction.
- Plan and implement lesson plans that are appropriate for the age and level of students.
- Create a safe and productive learning environment.
- Assess student progress and provide feedback.
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Utilize technology to enhance instruction.
- Stay up-to-date on educational trends and best practices.
- Uses varied resources and materials.
- Utilizes a variety of teaching procedures and strategies to accommodate individual differences.
- Uses wholesome motivational techniques.
- Relates instruction to the Christian objectives of the school.
- Administers the standardized testing program where applicable; studies and utilizes the results.
Classroom Management:
- Assumes responsibility for overall discipline in the classroom.
- Organizes and arranges the classroom so that optimum instruction can occur.
- Sets limits of student behavior which are defined, communicated, and monitored.
- Treats all students in a fair and consistent manner.
- Commends and reinforces good behavior and achievement of students.
- Maintains a self-controlled manner even in crisis or stressful situations.
- Counsels with students individually as needed.
- Uses Christian disciplinary methods, using Gospel and Law appropriately.
- Keeps the classroom interesting, stimulating, neat, and orderly.
Other School Responsibilities:
- Arrives at school at least 30 minutes prior to the start of school and leaves no sooner than 30 minutes after students are dismissed.
- Is responsible for the playground, lunchroom, and other supervision, as assigned.
- Is responsible for making reports to parents, written and oral.
- Attends all faculty meetings as determined by the principal.
- Attends all teachers' conferences.
- Attends all Parent-Teacher conferences and meetings.
- Participates and is active in student recruitment and retention efforts.
- Other duties as assigned by the principal.
Term of Service
- The term of service depends on the needs of the school and the congregation and whether the teacher is called or contracted.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $30,500.00 - $53,986.00 per year
