Full-time Monday - Friday with occasional weekends
SUMMARY: This position supports the notion that we can take care of others only as well as we care for ourselves. As a medical doctor with knowledge of general preventive medicine this positions seeks to promote health care to groups or individuals, and aid in the prevention or reduction of risk of disease, injury, disability, or death. May practice population-based medicine or diagnose and treat patients in the context of clinical health promotion and disease prevention.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Provides and manages direct patient care, including physical examinations, evaluations, assessments, diagnoses and treatment for a specified patient population.
- Administer psychiatric patient care, guiding clients in the development of skills and strategies to deal with mental health
- Prescribe, direct, or administer psychotherapeutic treatments or medications to treat mental, emotional, or behavioral disorders.
- Prescribes pharmaceuticals, other medications, and treatment regimens as appropriate to assessed medical conditions.
- Gather and maintain patient information and records, inclusive of documenting psychiatric diagnoses and treatments, as well as social or medical history obtained from patients, relatives, or other professionals.
- Design a coordinated treatment plan for patients with follow up appointments as necessary
- Participates in psychiatric research studies including but not limited to using epidemiologic, comparative effectiveness, machine learning, and clinical trial methods.
- Diagnosing patients accurately through multiple steps including but not limited taking a medical history, performing a physical exam, obtaining diagnostic tests, and then examining the data to come to the best explanation for the illness.
- Establish regular office hours for employees and residents to make appointments.
- Be willing to see general geriatric clients for those who desire a community based medical office.
- Maintain a medical record system that ensures the ability to patient care, confidentiality, and the ability to bill various insurance companies, Medicare and Medicaid.
- Develop and maintain cooperative working relationships with outside agencies and organizations.
- Provides group services as needed
- Other duties as assigned

Employee Responsibilities:
- Follows policy and procedures on annual TB testing.
- Follows policy and procedures on annual influenza vaccinations.
- Attends all mandatory in-services
- Works under the general supervision of the Social Service Department
- Has daily contact with the potential residents and their families
- Has daily contact with nursing home direct care staff to communicate pertinent resident admission information
Requirements
Minimum Requirements:
Unencumbered M.D. license to practice medicine in the State of Montana. At least 5 years of independent experience as a practicing M.D. Specialist in mental health and wellness or similar field and/or experience treating lifestyle-related disorders preferred. Board certification in internal medicine, and board certification in geriatrics or willingness to obtain is preferred.
