Job Overview
Responsible for the supervision and engagement of deaf youth in the group home and in the community through a variety of therapeutic activities. Communicates and documents all activities and observations utilizing established protocols. Addresses all needs of residents, assuring they reside in a safe and therapeutic environment.
Qualifications
Work requires the knowledge of theories, principles and concepts normally acquired through completion of Bachelor degree from an accredited college or university with a major in a Mental Health or other appropriate Human Services discipline OR an Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a field that is unrelated to social work or psychology and six months experience working with children in a group setting OR a High School diploma and one year experience working with children in a group setting OR a High School graduate with background or life experience that demonstrates characteristics, skills, attributes that would enable them to work with children who have emotional disturbance or with children with a disability, such as: raising a child, providing foster care, volunteer activities with a child. Must have valid CPR and Basic First Aid certification. Valid driver’s license required and comply with Qualifications to Drive a System Vehicle as well as all policies as outlined in the SJHS Fleet Management & Safety Program. Bilingual (American Sign Language/English) preferred. Work requires the ability to collect information from diverse sources, apply professional principles in performing various analyses, and summarize the information and data in order to solve problems.
