The basics of this position:

Teach a wide range of horticulture courses to a diverse group of students utilizing face-to-face teaching modalities including lecture, laboratory, and hands-on instruction in the outdoor Garden Classroom. Teaching horticulture core courses that include, but are not limited to, Introductory Horticulture, Soils, Integrated Pest Management, Plant Identification, and Landscape Management.

What you'll do:

  • * Teaching horticulture core courses that include, but are not limited to, Introductory Horticulture, Soils, Integrated Pest Management, Plant Identification, and Landscape Management.

    * Teaching horticulture elective courses that include, but are not limited to, Landscape Design, Topics in Horticulture, Turfgrass Management, Nursery and Garden Center Practices, Greenhouse Management, and Native Landscaping Practices.

    * Must be available to teach up to 3 evenings per week.

    * Preparing and correcting examinations and other student work assignments.

    * Participation in departmental development, evaluation and revision of course objectives and outlines, instructional strategies, and systems of evaluation of student learning.

    * Participation on other departmental, divisional, campus, and college-wide committees.

    * Attendance at faculty meetings, institutional ceremonies, program meetings or events, and advisory committee meetings.

    * Participation in community or green industry activities.

    * The College reserves the right to assign other normal professional responsibilities as may be appropriate.

Education, experience, and other requirements:

Bachelor's Degree in horticulture, botany, ecology, or another related field.
Three years of horticulture field experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master's Degree in horticulture, botany, ecology, or another related field.
Three years of relevant teaching experience at the college level.
