The basics of this position:
The Program Coordinator will be part of a dynamic and visionary team of leaders of the STLCC Tech Academy.
The Program Coordinator is a grant-funded position and it facilitates the St. Louis Community College’s Bank of America Grant Program.
A program that is designed to support closing the wealth gap by providing access and support to higher education for underrepresented and female students that will enable them to acquire jobs in high growth and promising Information Technology industries.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Generally works in an office environment. Hours of work may exceed 8 hours.
May work some additional weekends.
Local travel needed occasionally.
What you'll do:
- Collaborates with program director to initiate, develop and assess program initiatives and outcomes. Report outcomes as required.
- Collaborates with program director to oversee day to day operations of the STLCC Tech Academy.
- May oversee and coordinate with related IT program(s) (e.g. Access Point) to align program objectives with tech academy and support enrollment
- Promote, coordinate, and manage the Tech Academy Program at St. Louis Community College.
- Liaison with Bank of America and other industry partners.
- Collaborate with College partners, including faculty to create community building events for students in the program. Assess effectiveness of initiatives.
- Partner with the Office of Recruitment and Dual Credit/Enrollment Partnerships to identify, recruit, and enroll new students to the Tech Academy.
- Partner with the Office of Financial Aid and the Foundation Office to provide support for both direct and indirect costs for students within the Tech Academy.
- Work with student affairs staff and programs’ retention specialist to help with reducing the barriers that programmatic scholars may face in completing their program of study.
- Assist program students with accessing emergency grant funds (institutionally and local) that will support potential unexpected expenses that may arise during their tenure at the school.
- Provide intrusive, intentional, and proactive case management to student in the program.
- Educate students on their academic standing and provide advice on building and maintaining a plan towards good academic standing.
- Assist with retention initiatives by establishing and maintaining partnerships to sustain scholars within the program.
- Attend and participate in webinars, events as deemed by the grant funder (s).

- Coordinate and work with the Office of Career Development, the Employer Engagement Team, and others to ensure internships and job placement rates for graduates of the Tech Academy.
- Draw upon the services of Student and Academic Affairs units to assist students in resolving problems.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Education, experience, and other requirements:
Bachelor’s degree and two (2) years in a related field or easily translated to the field or relevant experience in higher education, programming, student development related to underrepresented students.
Demonstrate commitment and skills in issues related to equity and excellence.
Case management experience in supporting underrepresented, and females in pursuing their desired life outcomes by facilitating access to support services.
Demonstrated leadership skills (e.g., coordinating programs or activities, initiating new services, leading workgroups).
Outstanding interpersonal skills and a desire and ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, students, and other members of the campus community.
Experience and proficiency in current counseling, teaching, and learning technologies. Excellent interpersonal skills.
A dynamic personality and a strong desire to transform and improve the lives of underrepresented, and female students.
