Description
Under the direction of the Chief Technologist and Lead Sonographer, performs all duties of Radiological Technologist, performs diagnostic ultrasound procedures and operates equipment to produce graphic and photographic displays of system under study. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission and values.
Principle Accountabilities: Time Spent
1. To assist with all procedures requiring the use of diagnostic ultrasound.
2. Assists supervisor in the maintenance of proper records and reports.
3. May plan daily scheduling framework for in and outpatients and may plan daily workload for most efficient utilization of space and time.
4. Assists in coordinating with the Control Desk supervisor, the performance of routine radiographs on sonography patients.
5. May assist supervisor in instructing student technologists in the theory and use of Ultrasound.
6. Assist supervisor in maintaining adequate supply levels, adding new supplies and equipment.
7. May be assigned responsibility for periodic quality control check on all ultrasound equipment and maintains sterility of equipment.
8. Performs other routine ultrasound duties as delegated by supervisor or Chief Technologist.
9. Performs other work duties as required.
Education
High School diploma or equivalent
Must be a graduate of an AMA approved school of Ultrasound with certification with ARDMS within 6 months from hire. BLS required
Experience
Must have the ability to talk with patients and communicate with other departments of the hospital and maintain good working relationships and to understand and carry out instructions Must be able to take beeper call, work weekends and/or late The assessment, care and treatment provided by the Ultrasound Technologist will be consistent with the specific age related needs of the patient. The Ultrasound Technologist is competent to care for patient age groups including the infants, pediatrics, adolescent, adult and geriatric patient.

Job Relationships: Member of a comprehensive healthcare team, including other healthcare providers, the patient, the patient's family and significant others. Takes direction from: Lead Sonographer, Chief Technologist, Radiologist Provides direction to: Patient, patient family members Supervised by: Chief TechnologistWorking Conditions
Employee is required to sit continuously and walk occasionally. Employee must lift/carry a light (1-20 lbs.) load frequently. Employee may be required to lift over 100 lbs. with assistance. Employee is frequently required to bend, squat, climb, lift waist to overhead. Employee is occasionally required to reach forward and reach overhead. For repetitive action, employee is required to perform simple grasping and pushing/pulling. Employee is continuously CRT terminal work. (Occasionally: 1-33%, Frequently: 34-66%, Continuously: 67-100%) The most significant of duties are included but this does not exclude occasional work assignments not mentioned or developmental duties.
