ABOUT THIS ROLE :
To provide Non-Denominational Chaplain Services for the Hendry County Sherrif's Office.
ESSENTIAL TASKS :
- Administer and direct all aspect of a chaplaincy program, in cooperation with the Correctional Administration, to the inmates in the custody of the Hendry County Sheriff's Office.
- Coordinate and facilitate activities of all major faith groups represented in the facility in a respectful manner which do not disrupt the inmate population in conjunction with the Hendry County Sheriff's Office staff supervision.
- Be available to deliver notification of family emergencies or death notifications to inmates.
Requirements
Education : Have a seminary education majoring in theology, religious education, behavioral sciences, or an education from a seminary or school of theology.
Experience : Must have a minimum of three (3) years' experience as a religious and / or spiritual provider in a ministry, preferably in a correctional setting.
Must provide evidence of appointment as a Pastor, Associate Pastor or equivalent religious leader of a recognized religious group or sect in the form of license, ordination certificate, or notice of appointment.
Confidentiality : Works with confidential information. Shall maintain confidentiality of all inmate and agency correspondences and conversations in accordance with Florida Statute 45.
Mental / Visual Demands : Flow of work requires normal mental and visual capabilities.
Physical Demand : The employee is required to handle, feel and / or reach with hands
and arms, squatting, bending, and constantly moving on a regular
basis. The employee must frequently lift and / or move up to 25 pounds.
Working Conditions : Must have the capability to be present within the Correctional facility.
