What are the responsibilities and job description for the Adult Education Instructor (SOAR-ABE) position at St. Paul's Community Development Corporation?
Purpose: The purpose of this position is to provide basic skills instruction to adult learners with low literacy and math scores (below 5th grade level). The goal is to increase literacy and math scores so that students can transition to additionally available training opportunities, including, but not limited to, Pre-GED and GED instruction.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Plan and deliver daily lessons based on curricula that integrate basic math, reading, writing, computer, life skills, and financial literacy to adult learners.
- Work towards increasing students' literacy and numeracy skills by a minimum of one (1) National Reporting System Educational Functioning Level (NRS), as measured by the Test of Adult Basic Education (TABE)
- Understand and apply current research-based strategies for classroom instruction
- Correct students' work and provide with feedback
- Provide remedial instruction, as needed
- Perform basic attendance and accounting of student timesheets
ADMINISTRATION:
- Submit weekly lesson plans to Program Director
- Attend administrative, education, program and operational meetings, as scheduled
- Supervise classroom aides when assigned, ensuring services are adequately utilized
- Perform other related duties as requested by the Program Director
REQUIREMENTS:
- Degree in Education (NJ Teaching Certification in Special Education Preferred)
- Minimum of 2-3 years teaching experience Preferred
- Experience with building and designing curriculums
- Excellent verbal, written communication skills
- Familiarity with workforce development
- Computer literacy, including knowledge of Microsoft office applications, internet and email communications required

Pay: $55,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
