What are the responsibilities and job description for the WEST CAMPUS MINISTRY ASSISTANT position at St. Peter's United Methodist Church?
St. Peter's United Methodist Church is looking for a part-time Ministry Assistant for our West Campus.
This position is 20 hours per week and will support the Senior Associate Pastor. The assistant will focus on promoting ministry activities primarily at the west campus.
The main areas of responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Connection Team
- Coordinate and support Co-Chairs of the Connection Team
- Will replace, train and support co-leaders and team leaders annually
- Will help recruit, connect and schedule volunteers
- Will schedule quarterly/semi-annual appreciation events
- Will maintain the Planning Center database
- Will help lead the Sunday morning huddles
- Will be the connection between staff and Connection Team members
Member and Visitor Outreach
- Will work with pastor, student ministry director and children’s ministry director to create weekly lists of new visitors
- Will assist pastor in communication with new visitors
- Weekly emails, weekly letters, cards, or phone calls
- Assist in scheduling meetings with new visitors
- Will schedule and plan monthly Meet the Pastor events, in partnership with Kingsland Campus Ministry Assistant
- Will maintain relationships with current members and develop relationships with new members
- Track and follow up with visitors after they have come three times to get them more involved
- Responsible for Explore STP for West and inviting and following up with new members
- Schedule when new people will join and communicate to the worship team
Community Outreach
- Coordinate with leadership of school partnership with Tamarron Elementary School
- Will be main point of contact with the school and Loving Houston
- Will recruit leaders to meet goals of the school partnership
- Will communicate with Missions Committee as needed
Ministry Groups
- Will be point of contact for ministry groups (i.e. Let’s Do Lunch, GUAC, Coffee, Monthly Volunteer Group) at West Campus
- Will help establish new ministry groups as needed
- Campus Contact for Grow Groups
Scheduling and Planning
- Will coordinate baptisms
- Will assist with weddings and funerals, with assistance from Kingsland Campus Ministry Assistant, as needed
- Will submit all facilities and communication requests
- Will coordinate campus level events (i.e. Back to School Bash)
- Will assist Sr. Associate Pastor with scheduling meetings
Meetings
- Will attend monthly one church level meetings (i.e. calendaring, staff meeting)
- Will attend weekly campus level meetings
- Will attend scheduled meetings on both the one church and campus level as they arise
Miscellaneous
- Will track all West Campus budgets
- Will turn in all receipts monthly
- Will assist with inventory and supplies
- Will coordinate “Special Worship Services” at the West campus (i.e. Ash Wednesday, Good Friday, All Saints Sunday, Blessing of the Animals, Hanging of the Greens)
Sunday Support
- Primary pastor support on Sundays
- Point of contact for all Volunteers
Qualifications:
- Ability to work well with all levels of staff, volunteers, church members, etc.
- Excellent verbal, written, and phone communication
- Exercise good judgment and discretion, maintaining confidentiality
- Strong administrative skills
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and in a team setting
- Outgoing and positive personality
Education and Experience:
- High school or equivalent (Required)
- Minimum 2 years of administrative/office management experience
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $18.00 per hour
