What are the responsibilities and job description for the MAINTENANCE WORKER position at ST?
Maintenance Worker completes work in maintaining and repairing buildings, equipment and grounds. Monitors and documents operation of equipment, utilities, and vehicles. Inspects fire alarm, nurse call, standpipe-sprinkler, security systems and answers emergencies. Transports patients, personnel and merchandise. Participates in snow removal, moving equipment, furniture or other materials. Supports Hospital’s mission to provide the highest quality care by complying with regulatory guidelines, meeting agency standards, and obtaining appropriate certification.
JOB DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Performs preventive maintenance of equipment, makes adjustments and repairs.
2. Completes works requested by departments, answers emergency calls, fire and emergency drills. Checks air conditioners, cleans and changes AC filters as needed, inspects thermostats daily. Takes corrective actions as needed.
3. Inspects patient care areas, tests fire alarm system emergency generator, door alarms, standpipe-sprinkler system, emergency lighting, grounds and pool area equipment.
4. Monitors boiler room equipment, compressors, hot water preparation system, makes the proper adjustments and maintenance of machinery (lubrication, cleaning).
5. Repairs locks, doors, windows, floor and ceiling finishes, walls (patching & painting).
6. Maintains and repairs medical air equipment, wheelchairs, cribs, beds, cabinets,
bathroom equipment, different room & office furniture, nurse call system , emergency lights, etc.
7. Repairs or replaces electrical fixtures, controls, switches, outlets, circuit breaker, wiring.
8. Assembles plumbing fixtures, cleans, unclogs drains and gutter systems.
9. Repairs, patches and paints walls, ceilings and building envelopes as necessary.
10. Keeps tools clean and work areas free of obstructions. Limits access to work zones.
11. Provide security services during regular hours and other shifts as replacement is needed.
12. Operates hospital vehicles: errands-priority mail, banking, pickups, purchase etc.
13. Assists in checking, ordering and storing supplies and equipment.
14. Moves furniture and equipment and other materials as necessary.
15. Participates in snow removal and clearing of disaster situations.
16. Activate and maintain outdoor sprinkler systems as needed.
17. Maintains the cleanliness and safety of repair shop boiler and other equipment rooms.
