Job Summary: As a Diesel Mechanic, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining diesel engines and related components. This position requires a high level of technical expertise, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities:
- Perform routine maintenance tasks, including oil changes, filter replacements, and fluid checks, on diesel engines and vehicles.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems in diesel-powered vehicles, such as trucks, buses, and heavy equipment.
- Conduct thorough inspections to identify and troubleshoot issues with engines, transmissions, brakes, steering systems, and other components.
- Utilize diagnostic equipment, computerized systems, and technical manuals to accurately diagnose and resolve problems.
- Replace or repair faulty parts, such as fuel injectors, turbochargers, alternators, and starter motors, ensuring proper installation and functionality.
- Perform engine tune-ups, aligning and balancing wheels, and adjusting brakes, clutches, and other systems as needed.
- Maintain accurate records of all repairs, services, and parts used, adhering to company policies and procedures.
- Keep up-to-date with advancements in diesel engine technology and industry standards by attending training sessions and workshops.
- Adhere to safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Collaborate with team members and provide assistance and guidance when necessary.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Completion of a certified diesel mechanic program or equivalent work experience.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of diesel engine systems, including fuel injection, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
- Proficiency in using diagnostic tools, computerized systems, and technical manuals to troubleshoot and repair diesel engines.
- Solid knowledge of safety protocols and practices related to working with diesel-powered vehicles.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
