Purchaser

Position Summary

The Strategic Purchaser is responsible for fulfilling requisition requests for material and supplies, processing purchase orders and reports, and managing raw material inventory levels.

Essential Job Functions

· Prepares raw materials inventory reports and determines monthly inventory levels/ reorder points

· Negotiate price and terms with vendors

· Prepare purchase orders, solicit bid proposals, and review requisitions for goods and services.

· Research and evaluate vendors based on price, quality, selection, service, availability, reliability, and production capabilities.

· Confer with management and vendors to discuss defective or unacceptable goods or services and determine corrective action.

· Evaluate and monitor contract performance to ensure compliance with contractual obligations.

· Maintain and review records of items purchased, costs, deliveries, product performance, and inventories.

· Analyze price proposals, financial reports, and other data

· Assisting in securing the timely delivery of material for production.

· Perform other duties as assigned.

Experience / Knowledge / Abilities

· Competency in Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook

· Excellent analytical and communication skills (verbal and written)

· Highly Organized

· Must possess strong negotiation skills

· Proficient in Microsoft AX, or comparable ERP experience

· Attention to detail and sense of ownership of responsibilities

· Required minimum of 5 years’ experience, purchasing steel or industrial field preferred.

· Bachelor Degree or equivalent work experience required

• 10 hour shift
• 8 hour shift
• Day shift
• Monday to Friday
• Overtime

• Garland, TX: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required)

• Purchasing: 5 years (Required)
