Position: Substitute Paraprofessional/Aide/Educational
Summary:
The Substitute Paraprofessional/Aide provides services as an employee of PESG servicing the district by providing assistance to the teacher, encouraging the students and supporting the learning environment in a positive manner.
Essential Job Functions (note this is not an exhaustive list of the duties performed for this position):
- May involve assisting students or providing personal hygiene services and lifting.
- Ability to work one-on-one with students instructional needs in a special & general education setting.
- Ability to implement & monitor detailed behavior plan(s).
- Ability to work with various personality types.
- Ability to perform verbal& physical de-escalation techniques consistent with CPI.
- Ability to work with individual and groups of students
- May involve assisting students or providing personal hygiene services and lifting.
- Support teacher during the instructional day.
- Help with some preparation of teaching materials.
- Experience using technology as an instructional tool in the classroom.
- Work independently and cooperatively using a variety of instructional strategies.
- Ability to plan and organize; excellent work habits.
- Perform other duties as assigned by administration.
- Represent the District and PESG in a professional manner by performing all job functions at a satisfactory or above level.
- Interact with co-workers, administration, students, parents, and the community in a positive, supportive, and cooperative ways.
- Performs other related duties, including special projects, as required or requested, consistent with reasonable expectations for the contracted position.
Qualifications:
- Minimum Education requirements for position –HS Diploma or GED
- Completion of the Global Compliance Network Modules
- Demonstrated record of good attendance and punctuality.
- Demonstrated strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience using technology as an instructional tool in the classroom.
- Demonstrated ability to speak clearly and concisely both in oral and written communication.
- Successful experience working with school age students.
- Must meet criminal history background requirements (requires FBI Fingerprint and SOARS clearance)
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand/walk for extended periods of time
- Occasional climbing of steps
- Ability to hear and understand speech at normal levels
Starting Date: Depends on approval
Work Year, Hours & Compensation: Hours and pay rates vary depending on assignment and district. . Non-Exempt.
