CNC Programmer/Machinist:

Compensation: $28-$33 an hour

Shift:  1st shift 7a.m. to 3p.m. Monday-Friday

Summary

Program, Set-up, and operate one or more CNC Mill or Lathe machines to perform machining operations on a variety of parts involving multiple machining or cutting operations.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Program, verify, and set-up new and existing parts using both CAM software and Machine controls.
  • When not programming or performing setup duties, required to run lathe or mill in production capacity
  • Communicate and work with Engineers, Planners, Quality, and Operators as needed to complete duties as required.
  • Assist and Train Operators in machine operation, program/tooling adjustments, and machine set-up.
  • Select and install tooling according to specifications and operation.
  • Extensive use of blueprints, process plans, program sheets, holding fixture location diagrams, etc. to set-up and prepare machine for operation.
  • Use precision measuring instruments to setup machine and check machined items.
  • Use standard machine tools including, but not limited to, drill press and a variety of hand, electric, etc. tools
  • Make programming or tooling adjustments.
  • Load work program.
  • Load and unload parts in machine
  • Run jobs and obtain first piece approval.
  • Other duties as required.

 

Education/Work Experience Requirements

  • Associate's degree (A. A.) or certification from two-year College or technical school; or equivalent combination of education and experience; or 3 years of experience programming, setting up and operating CNC lathe or Mill
  • High level of knowledge of G&M code
  • CAM software experience and/or desire to learn – Gibbscam Preferred
  • HAAS or DOOSAN experience preferred
  • Be able to read a tape measure
  • Be able to convert metric and English units
  • Be able to read and understand blue prints and assembly drawings
  • Be able to use calipers, micrometers and height gage
  • Knowledge of GD&T preferred
  • Comply with all safety procedures, postings and protocols
  • May be required to perform additional tasks as assigned.

Physical Demands:  While performing the duties of this job, for length of 8-10 hour shift, the employee is frequently required to stand and walk and talk or hear; and use hands to finger, handle, or operate objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 35 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

 

Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in an indoor manufacturing environment.  The employee will work in areas exposed to production activities to include but not limited to production machinery, assembly operations, overhead cranes usage, and forklift traffic.  The employee will be required to use personal protective equipment to prevent exposure to workplace hazards.

 

Mental Demands: While performing the duties of this class, the employee is regularly required to use written and oral communication skills; read and interpret data, information and documents; analyze and solve problems; use math and mathematical reasoning; observe and interpret situations; learn and apply new information or skills;

and interact with other employees, customers and vendors.
