What are the responsibilities and job description for the CNC Axis Operation/Setup position at StaffWorks, Inc.?
Our client has been in business since the 1990's and is one of the states larger sheet metal fabrication shops located in Shelton, CT. They make and finish large products right on site such as railway safety carts and X-Ray machines for airports and boarder security. They have 170 employees are increasing their work force and did not shut down during the pandemic. They are adding a 30,000 square foot addition on to their shop as they are continuing to grow. They are seeking seeking CNC candidates with operation/setup experience for 3 and 4-axis vertical machining as well as 5 axis turning centers. They offer roughly 50 hour works weeks with competitive pay, lots of overtime opportunity, and great benefits.
Selling Points:
6:00 AM - 4:30 PM, 7:00 AM - 4:30 PM (9-10 hour work days)
Additional OT Offered Saturday Mornings 7 - 12
Pay Rate:
$18 - $28 (commensurate with experience)

- Set up and operation of 3-axis and 4-axis CNC vertical machining centers in a job shop atmosphere with low quantity and high mix lots.
- Set up and operation of 5-axis CNC turning centers with main spindle, sub spindle and live milling tooling in a job shop atmosphere with low quantity and high mix lots.
- Working with large metal parts including stainless steel, steel and aluminum.
- Will be utilizing dial calipers & adjustable protractors to measure flanges and angles according to blueprints instruction.
- Will be forming parts on a 100 ton to 500 ton CNC hydraulic press brake in short runs with high variety.
- 2-3 years experience (will consider less for the right candidate)
- Experience in editing and debugging programs while at the machine's Fanuc Control preferred.
- Must be able to read blueprints and use standard measuring tools to inspect all work.
- Clearly be able to identify and use upper punch/lower die sets and all forming tools.
- Being able to to understand bend deductions and calculating flat patterns is a plus.
