Essential Duties:

  • Interviewing and hiring of Field Staff
  • Disciplinary actions up to and including termination of field staff.
  • Meeting financial expectations for all projects and office budgets.

Non-essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintaining and creating relationships with subcontractors and temporary labor agencies and acquiring subcontracted or temporary labor when necessary
  • Negotiate labor rates with subcontractors and temporary agencies
  • Assist in monitoring office cost and profitability
  • Communicates to field employees regarding scheduling, scopes of work and close out documentation
  • Monitor field employees performance giving recognition of performance or disciplinary action if necessary
  • Liaison to field employees to Project Managers and office staff
  • Tracking of company vehicles and vehicle maintenance
  • Tracking of company assets assigned to field employees
  • Review of project scopes of work
  • Print and distribute project scopes of work and documentation to field employees
  • Staging of material and equipment for field employees
  • Shipping and receiving of materials and supplies
  • Warehouse inventory control
  • Place material will call orders for field employees when needed
  • Technical assistance to field employees
  • Research of project detail
  • Assist Project Managers on projects and receiving closeout documentation, pictures and test results
  • Oversee and verify field employees timesheets for accuracy
  • Monitor field employees expense reports
  • Safety training for field employees
  • Distribution and tracking of PPE equipment for field employees
  • Technical training for field employees – testers, computers, email, E-timesheets etc.
  • New hire orientation
  • Job site safety inspections
  • Job site quality assurance inspections
  • Assist in building relationships with customers, suppliers, community and business leaders
  • Acquiring permits for projects when needed
  • Project manage and estimate local work for the office when needed
  • Perform other additional office duties and responsibilities as required or requested

Major Roles and Responsibilities


The Operations Manager has a pivotal role in the day-to-day operations of each regional office and must have a strong ability to multitask between each responsibility of the position. The primary responsibility of the Operations Manager is the scheduling of the office’s technicians and electricians for all assigned national projects to their region as well as any local projects. An Operations Manager must be able to assess each employee’s abilities as well as have an understanding of each project to schedule employees accordingly. When scheduling employees for projects; safety, logistics, tools, and materials all have to be factored in to keep project costs to a minimum. When necessary, an Operations Manager will also work with subcontractors or temporary agencies to assist with manpower requirements.

The Operations Manager will be responsible for meeting financial expectations for all local and national projects in addition to office budgets. The Operations Manager will also be responsible for the interviewing and hiring of field staff. This will also include all disciplinary actions up to and including termination of field staff.

The Operations Manager will also be responsible for ensuring that Technicians and Electricians have the most current scopes of work, materials, and tools they will need to complete their assignments successfully. This will also include the tracking of closeout documentation that technicians turn in after the completion of each project.

The Operations Manager must be able to communicate effectively with all levels of personnel and management. The Operations Manager will to their office’s Regional Manager. Those in this role will also interact daily with various Project Managers and possibly customers regarding projects assigned to their office. Additionally, the office’s technicians and electricians report directly to the Operations Manager as their immediate supervisor.

The safety of the office employees and assets is a foremost priority for an Operations Manager. An Operations Manager will be considered as a “Safety Steward” for Staley Technologies. The Operations Manager will be responsible for ensuring all employees are using safe work practices at all times, on or off a job site. This will include distribution and monitoring of the use of personal protective equipment by each employee. Any safety concerns that may arise will need to be addressed as well as anticipate any potential safety hazards.

The office warehouse is overseen by the Operations Manager. This will involve the shipping and receiving of materials and any type of office deliveries. The Operations Manager will control inventory management and the staging of material for technicians and electricians out of the office. On occasion, this will involve the delivery of material to job sites. On occasion, the Operations Manager will need to order materials through suppliers.

All Staley Technologies vehicles and assets are tracked by Operations Managers. All vehicles need to be monitored as to who the vehicle is assigned to, as well as, track the vehicle maintenance such as oil changes, tire rotations etc. All assets are to be tracked such as testers, laptops, drills, etc., this will also include monitoring the condition of the asset and any maintenance that it may require.

The Operations Manager is responsible for checking and verifying office employee’s timesheets and expense reports. All hours and charges are verified that they are accurate and allocated to the correct project before the Regional Manager does the final approval for payroll processing.

To further the development of employees, the Operations Manager needs to evaluate the skills of employees to identify their strengths and weaknesses and help improve on their weaknesses through training. The Operations Manager will also train technicians on safe work practices and the use of their assigned personal protective equipment.

Job sites will be visited on occasion randomly for quality assurance. This will be done either while the project is in progress or after the project has been completed. During site visits, safe work practices, installation practices to customers and Staley Technologies’ standards, and customer relations will be verified and monitored.

If requested, the Operations Manager will oversee any local projects by managing costs, materials, and manpower.
