- Curriculum Development and Implementation (70%)
- Supports the Design of Curriculum Development Procedures – Collaborates with Director of Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment - Elementary (PK-5) to support the development of district curriculum philosophy and alignment with the ongoing curriculum audit’s recommendations; supports in the development of curriculum designs framework (standards; power standards), vets curriculum units to be shared across the district, collaborates to design framework and curriculum templates; supports e-platform for sharing of units across the district; ensures that technology is integrated with curriculum resources; ensures the horizontal and vertical curriculum alignment for PK-5; works with Grade level Teacher Teams to develop rubrics that outline requirements for successful response on curriculum-aligned assessments;
- Supports the Implementation of Research Based High Leverage Instructional Strategies and Materials – Supports the use of high leverage instructional strategies to ensure equitable and increased access to rigorous curriculum at the PK-5 level. Supports the identification of high leverage research based instructional practices by subject area and the components to be included in the Elementary Literacy, Social Studies, Math and Science Blocks, and Computer Science lessons, establishes research based high-leverage instructional strategies aligned to the CT Core Standards, Standards for Mathematical Practices; NGSS, the Science of Reading, the CSDE Social Studies Framwork, and ISTE, determines expectations for lesson design; collaborates to determine level and rigor of instruction expectations; plans for differentiated instruction.
- Supports the Implementation of Assessment Practices – Collaborates with Teaching and Learning Team to determine the Stamford Public School Assessment Calendar, supports central office and building administration for all assessments including FLSA and Smarter Balance, NGSS and universal screeners such as Math and Reading Inventory, DIBELS, and TRC, collects and analyzes data to be shared with Teaching and Learning and Building Administration Teams to inform instruction and ongoing professional development.
- Collaborates with District Literacy Coaches and Reading Team members, Elementary Math Liaisons and Title 1 Math Teachers in choosing research based high-leverage instructional strategies and materials, and provides professional development and resources to teachers in curriculum design, implementation, and research based high-leverage instructional strategies.
- Tier 1, 2, and 3 Instruction and Intervention – Collaborates with the TOSA for Tiered Support K-12 to develop a philosophy for implementation for progress monitoring to ensure the alignment of Tier 1 instruction with Tier 2 and Tier 3 instruction and interventions for PK-5.
- Develops Support Plan for New Teachers – Identifies curriculum, instruction, and professional development needs for all new PK-5 teachers.
- Develops Professional Development – Identifies curriculum, instruction, and professional development needs for all PK-5 teachers throughout the year.
- Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment Evaluation and Development (20%)
- Program Evaluation – Collaborates with the Director of Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment - Elementary (PK-5) to help prioritize support areas needed for curriculum, assessment, and instruction; to determine data to be collected and analyzed for student achievement, and to gather ongoing feedback to ensure continuous program improvement.
- Other Duties (10%)
- Coordinates with Board of Education departments, including but not limited to Teaching and Learning, Intervention and Support Services, and School Development.
- Collaborates with the Assistant Director of Early Childhood Development and Intervention, Assistant Director of Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment – Secondary, the Assistant Directors for Special Education, Coordinator of Technology Integration and the Coordinator for English Learners to ensure vertical alignment of curriculum, instruction, and assessment.
- Chairs and participates in committees as requested by the Director of Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment - Elementary.
- Performs additional duties as assigned including but not limited to supporting the following:

- Knowledge of federal, state, and local laws, policies, and procedures related to public schools, specifically related to Special Education, English Learners, and related services.

General Statement:
