A new research lab headed by Daniel Abrams, Ph.D., in collaboration with the Stanford Cognitive and Systems Neuroscience Laboratory (PI: Vinod Menon, Ph.D.), in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Stanford University is seeking a full-time Autism Diagnostic Assessor. The primary focus will be conducting and scoring the Autism Diagnostic Observation Scale-2 (ADOS-2) and the Autism Diagnostic Interview-Revised (ADI-R) with children with Autism Spectrum Disorder in a research setting. This position will collaborate with the Stanford Cognitive and System Neuroscience Laboratory as well as the Abrams Laboratory for studies evaluating mathematical skills and speech perception in children with Autism Spectrum Disorder.


The Autism Diagnostic Assessor candidate will have the opportunity to collaborate with our interdisciplinary team including researchers from multiple scientific disciplines, including cognitive neuroscience, psychology, psychiatry, and neurology. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to brain imaging studies of cognitive and social function and dysfunction, cognitive development, and learning disabilities. The successful candidate will participate multiple aspects of research in the lab with a focus on the administration and scoring of autism diagnostic (ADOS-2 and ADI-R) and neuropsychological assessments. Other duties may include: screening and recruiting participants, obtaining informed consent, scheduling participants for testing, tracking progress of the study and behavioral data, verifying data and entering pertinent information into database for statistical analysis and conducting statistical analyses.

Duties include:


  • Schedule and/or call subjects for appointments; contact participants with reminders or other requirements.
  • Prepare, distribute, and process questionnaires.
  • Perform clerical duties in the preparation of regulatory documents. Maintain all forms and documents, including consent forms and master subject logs. File all appropriate correspondence.
  • Assist with the screening, recruiting, and obtaining consent of study participants. Review medical records and/or perform telephone or in-person interviews to gather data, as needed.
  • Administer standard study questionnaires and tests, score test measurements and questionnaires, and code data for computer entry. Perform quantitative review of forms, tests, and other measurements for completeness and accuracy.
  • Extract data from source documents for research studies as directed. Collect data and complete case report forms.
  • Perform basic measurements and tests on patients according to protocol, such as obtaining vital signs and performing phlebotomy and EKG, after appropriate training/certification. Collect study specimens according to protocol.
  • Prepare, process, and ship specimens/samples accurately under well-defined requirements.
  • Order and maintain equipment and supplies.
  • Process study compensation payments and thank you letters to subjects upon completion of trial activities. Assist with post-study activities, as needed.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:


  • BS/BA degree in Psychology, Speech, Hearing, or Communication Sciences, Human Biology, Neurosciences, or related fields
  • Research reliable and trained on administering the ADOS-2 and ADI-R assessments
  • Board Certified Behavior Analyst credential preferred
  • Previous research experience in speech, language, or cognitive neuroscience
  • Prior experience working with children with Autism Spectrum Disorder, preferably including minimally verbal children
  • Previous experience in conducting neuropsychological assessments helpful
  • Ability and desire to work well with children

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE (REQUIRED):


  • Two year college degree and one year of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of experience, education, and training.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (REQUIRED):


  • General knowledge of medical terminology.

CERTIFICATIONS & LICENSES:


  • Working toward certification(s) to perform basic patient measurements and tests, such as phlebotomy and EKG.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS*:


  • Frequently stand, walk, twist, bend, stoop, squat and use fine light/fine grasping.
  • Occasionally sit, reach above shoulders, perform desk based computer tasks, use a telephone and write by hand, lift, carry, push, and pull objects that weigh up to 40 pounds.
  • Rarely kneel, crawl, climb ladders, grasp forcefully, sort and file paperwork or parts, rarely lift, carry, push, and pull objects that weigh 40 pounds or more.
