We are currently seeking an Environmental Scientist to work based in one of our eastern Iowa locations.

The qualified individual will have 0-3 years of experience and will be capable of working with a team of professionals. Assignments may vary from conducting field surveys, assisting with environmental sampling, and assisting with data reports.

Job duties will include daily travel to project sites to conduct environmental sampling. Sampling media may include soil, groundwater, surface water, and air. Typical clients are located in the central/eastern Iowa region. Limited overnight travel may be required. Stanley Consultants will arrange for company vehicle use as applicable. Office duties will include development of standard operating procedures, documentation of programmatic evaluations, securing appropriate permits and/or regulatory approvals and conducting other administrative duties, in support of company programs and operations.

Must be a highly motivated, driven self-starter that is customer focused and works well in a team environment. Familiarity with commonly accepted field data collection methods, data review, and preparation of scientific documents is desirable but not required.

Required Education, Skills and Experience:
  • Bachelor of Science degree environmental field (Civil/Environmental Engineering, Environmental Sciences, or equivalent)
  • OSHA 40-hour Hazwoper training preferred
  • Experience and proficiency with MS Office, including Excel
  • Excellent communication and technical writing skills. Applicant must be capable of summarizing investigation findings and field methods. Strong communications skills are required as the successful candidate will work with scientists/engineers, project managers, and clients in the execution of projects.
  • Ability to apply standard scientific concepts to assigned technical challenges in a principally self-directed manner.
  • Must be able to work legally in the United States for an unlimited time without requiring sponsorship.
