Your Opportunity
Join a Top 10 global design firm in our Buildings practice that provides Architecture, Building Engineering, and Interior Design Services.
This is a seasonal architectural intern role. You will work on tasks under the guidance of an Architect or Design Coordinator in the Commercial & Industrial, Healthcare, and/or Science and Technology sectors. As part of the internship, you will collaborate with interns and experts across the company through the Stantec Intern Project, which is a multi-discipline intern team design challenge and educational program. Within the local office, you will have the opportunity to engage with other young professionals through the Developing Professionals Group (DPG), expand your knowledge through various training sessions and construction site visits, and connect with colleagues through mentorship and various office social events. For those pursuing licensure, you will have the opportunity to gain NCARB AXP experience under the guidance of an AXP mentor.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Conduct basic interpretations of sketches, drawings, models, codes, building program, and other similar material.
- Support and assist project teams in the development a project’s design, documentation, and administration during all phases of the project.
- Assist in the development of a design through sketches, physical models, digital models, diagrams, massing studies, and other visual formats.
- Utilize BIM to develop three-dimensional building models and utilize it as a tool in the production of construction documents.
- Participate in internal project reviews and critiques.
- Participate in project coordination and meetings with internal team members, external consultants, and/or clients.
- Assist with the implementation of sustainable design principles into the building design and surrounding environment.
- Assist in research of design concepts, benchmarks, materials, typologies, and precedents.
Qualifications
Your Capabilities and Credentials
- Basic skills associated with the utilization of technology as a design tool.
- Ability to hand sketch and communicate concepts and ideas to others effectively.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to participate and collaborate in a project team setting.
- Familiarity with digital modeling software, such as Revit, AutoCAD, or Rhino is preferred.
- Experience with digital graphic tools such as Enscape, Lumion, Sketch-up, and Adobe Creative Suite is a plus.
Education and Experience
- Working towards a bachelor’s or master’s degree of Architecture or related field.
Typical office environment includes working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
