Your Opportunity
The Construction Inspector, Roadway projects will monitor, record, and inspect progress on construction projects, performing quality assurance inspections to achieve compliance with contract plans and specification on all phases of construction. You will keep head inspector aware of conditions which could result in contract CO's or delays and assisting in proactively resolving these situations and other duties as necessary.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Daily documentation of contractor’s work efforts.
- Project coordination with Contractor’s field personnel and utility owners.
- Project field book preparation and documentation.
- Density logbook preparation and documentation.
- Material sampling and testing.
- Assisting with preparation of the Final Estimate package.
- Measures distances to verify accuracy of dimensions of construction activity/layout.
- Verifies levels, alignment, and elevation of construction activity/installations.
- Observes work in progress to ensure that procedures followed and materials used conform to specifications.
- Obtains and prepares material samples for laboratory testing.
- Examines workmanship of finished installations for conformity to standard and accepts installation.
- Records quantities of materials received or used during specified periods.
- Maintains daily log of construction and inspection activities and compares progress reports.

- CTQP Concrete Field Technician Level I
- CTQP Asphalt Roadway Level I
- CTQP Earthwork Level I
- CTQP Pile Driving Inspection
- CTQP Drilled Shaft Inspection
- IMSA Traffic Signal Inspector Level I
- Intermediate Temporary Traffic Control
- CTQP Final Estimates Level I
- Florida Stormwater, Erosion, and Sedimentation Control Training and Certification
- Nuclear Radiation Safety
- Complete the Critical Structures Construction Issues, Self-Study Course
Education and Experience
- High School Graduate plus minimum of two years of FDOT roadway and/or bridge construction experience.
- Valid driver’s license with approved/acceptable driving history required.
Position requires minimum of 40 hours a week with possibility of overtime (Hourly). Possible some weekend and night work. Lifting to 50 pounds.
