Your Opportunity

The successful candidate will work in a consulting construction management role on critical water infrastructure projects that will require application of technical skills and leadership for construction projects. We are currently seeking an Electrical Construction Inspector for a Water Treatment Plant Project in the metropolitan Portland area, planned to be completed in 2025. This position will work as part of an onsite construction management team with a primary focus on electrical and instrumentation elements of the project.
Your Key Responsibilities
Provide inspection of project’s electrical and instrumentation elements to verify compliance with construction contract documents.
- Communicate with general contractor and electrical subcontractor to understand the work performed each day
- Review drawings, specifications, and submittals to understand project requirements
- Prepare Daily Inspection Reports and Photographic Logs.
- Attend project meetings
- Review project permits and inspect contractor's work for compliance with permit conditions
- Review contractor's monthly payment applications with construction manager to verify work completed
- Assist with processing of submittals, RFIs and other project correspondence
- Assist with startup, testing, commissioning, and project closeout
- Prepare written reports documenting non-compliance notices, and corrective actions.
- Follow site specific safety plans and provide leadership to establish a proactive safety culture.
- Train or mentors less experienced staff in company procedures, standards, and software.
- Perform other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.
- Work under the direction of construction manager and assistant construction manager for daily work coverage responsibilities.
Qualifications
Your Capabilities and Credentials
- Thorough understanding of electrical work and the equipment/instrumentation used in water or wastewater facilities.
- Basic knowledge of electrical code (this position does not require electrical code special inspection)
- Thorough understanding of construction safety, quality control and general construction contracts
- Ability to use and interpret contract documents, drawings, schedule, and quality control plans relating to complex construction projects, specifically P&ID drawings, single-line diagrams, and conduit schedules
- Strong communications skills used for reporting and other communications
- Strong focus and skills for construction safety.
- Must be physically able to climb extensively up and down ladders and to enter awkward and confined spaces on a regular basis.
- Ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
- Ability to effectively discuss project issues with contractor, project team and clients, including ability to resolve conflict situations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Education and Experience
- Technical degree/diploma/certificate or equivalent in related field; or equivalent combination of education and construction experience.
- Minimum of 8-10 years of experience.
The Construction Inspector will report to a Program Construction Manager or Regional Construction Manager in the Pacific Northwest CMS group. Position will primarily work in a field setting. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather. After initial 2-year assignment, must be available to travel for out-of-town projects when needed. Occasional work in the office may be required.
