These positions will be based out of Stantec's Buffalo, NY office but will be physically located at field sites throughout the state of New York.
As talented and ambitious professionals, you will be working with a multi-disciplinary team executing field work at operational wind energy projects.
These positions require travel and independent work on remote field sites. We are looking for dependable, dedicated, and attentive individuals to fulfill field survey tasks with high regard for quality wildlife data collection.
Your Key ResponsibilitiesSupport field data collection, entry, and quality reviewExecute field work independently and safelyCommunicate regularly with project manager(s) and / or field team lead(s), regarding data collection and progressComply with field safety and security protocols
Your Capabilities and Credentials
Proficient with bird and bat identification and data collection or willingness to learnProven technical, communication, and organizational skillsProficient in MS Office applicationsAbility to endure long days of physically and mentally challenging field workAbility to walk long distances on flat, uneven groundAbility to work safely in varying weather conditionsPossess a positive solutions-oriented attitudeStrong collaboration and ability to work with a teamAbility to work in a dynamic environmentStrong work ethic and integritySense of humor and desire for team successGood driving record and valid driver's licenseAbility to navigate on the road and in the field in remote settingsEducation and Experience
Diploma or degree (degree preferred) in wildlife management, ecology, biology, or conservation; wetland science; soil science;
botany; or environmental sciences (or related field)A minimum of 4 undergraduate semesters in one of the above majors1-5 years of field work experience as a team or independentlyDemonstrated experience in applied field ecologyExperience with bird and bat identificationExperience with MS office applications (Outlook, Excel, Access, and Word)
Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
