Your Opportunity
Stantec is seeking a Project Geologist or Environmental Scientist in our Seattle, Washington office to assist with environmental site assessment and remediation of a portfolio of petroleum remediation sites in urban and industrial settings. Previous experience required (at least 3 years) in environmental consulting on assessment and remediation sites. The position will include a combination of field and office work assisting with environmental investigation, characterization, and remediation of contaminated sites under the Model Toxics Control Act (MTCA) in Washington State . Note taking, report writing skills, attention to detail, and an ability to work independently are required. OSHA 40 hour HAZWOPER are required. Clean driving record and compliance with stringent safety protocols is paramount. Field activities will take place in a variety of weather conditions.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Phase I and Phase II Site Investigations
- Prepare work plans, site conceptual models, and assessment reports
- Plan and oversee well and boring installations and destructions
- Periodic low-flow groundwater sampling
- Construction oversight and soil sampling
- Subcontractor coordination and oversight
Qualifications
Your Capabilities and Credentials
- Must be comfortable working outdoors for extended periods of time in remote locations.
- Must be able to hike for extended periods of time and work outside during adverse weather conditions.
- Must be conscientious, organized, and disciplined.
- Build and maintain a productive professional and personal networking relationship within their technical team.
- The ability to comply with strict safety protocols
- Excellent writing skills, attention to detail, and an ability to work independently
- Field activities will take place in a variety of weather conditions.
- OSHA HAZWOPER 40-hour training
- Willingness and an ability to travel and stay overnight
- Good driving record and valid driver’s license required.
- Prior to employment, this position may require the successful passing of a pre-employment physical and drug screen.
Education and Experience
- BS in geology, environmental science or related degree;
- 3 years in environmental consulting on assessment and remediation sites
- GIS and/or ACAD experience, ACAD
- Ability to perform strenuous field work including lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds
- Ability to pass pre-employment physical and follow stringent Health & Safety policies
- Ability to drive a company vehicle (acceptable motor vehicle record)
- Ability for periodic travel for work with overnight stays
Preferred Experience:
- Soil vapor sampling and screening
- Underground storage tank closure and assessment
- Support of NFA negotiations with Washington regulatory agencies
Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.

- $58,400 - $84,700 (WA location only)
The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.
