Your Opportunity

As a developing project controls professional at Stantec, you will apply skills in cost controls, communications, and problem solving in a fast-paced, professional, design and construction environment under the guidance of lead project controls staff.

Your Key Responsibilities

Responsible for supporting the consultant team in developing, updating and tracking the Program’s costs and schedule, and producing Program reports, as well as maintaining associated systems and tools, including:

Assist with Program Financial Management

• Use monthly budget updates generated by Project Managers and assist the Project Finance Manager with the cash flow projections required to model rates and revenue requirements
• Prepare reports that outline the program/project’s financial position in the areas of funding and costs
• Provide QA/QC of monthly budget forecasts proposed by Project Managers in order to prepare monthly Estimate to Complete (ETC) updates
• Support maintenance of multi-year program baseline budget and cash flow projection of financial needs based on current schedules
• Track Program expenditures and monitor Program cash flow

Assist with Subconsultant and Task Order Management

• Maintain Contract Activity Reports, as applicable (SLBE/ELBE, MBE, WBE, etc.)
• Monitor and report on subconsultant expenditures
• Coordination of change orders with subconsultants
• Support preparation of level of effort cost estimates
• Support preparation of task order packages

Program Controls Support

• Support preparation of internal and external Program Status Reports and dashboards as required on the Program Portal
• Support the maintenance of business processes, systems, and tools to enable project controls functions to be sustained over the life of the Program
• Review and coding of subconsultant invoices, collaboration with Stantec Accountant, and compilation of invoices for review by Project Manager
• Follow up on associated departments request for payment, and invoices using internal cost data and contact vendors when appropriate. Additionally, follow up on third party reimbursements for work performed in support of the project.
• Draft Stantec EACs for review by Project Manager

Qualifications

Your Capabilities and Credentials

• Understanding of project control concepts (min. two years of experience) and ability to effectively communicate ideas to others.
• Recognizes when technical problems are developing and initiates appropriate corrective actions.
• Demonstrated experience in analyzing financial data, cost control analysis, budget development and reporting
• Experience with Cost Management services including cost control, planning, earned value analysis, forecasting, report production, cash flow maintenance & change management
• Ability to check own work for accuracy and completeness and manage time to meet project budget and schedule.
• Ability to participate and collaborate in project team setting and to engage in creative and critical thought.
• Expertise in using Microsoft Office suite of tools (Word, PowerPoint and Excel) and Adobe Acrobat, with an emphasis on advanced Excel experience, including pivot tables, formula creation and formula refining
• Experience working within virtual collaborative work environments
• Experience working with collaborative platforms such as SharePoint is desired

Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Engineering, Construction Management, Finance, Business or related field
• Experience in financial analysis, budget management and/or project cost and schedule controls
