Position Summary
The Material Planner is a crucial role responsible for managing material planning, procurement, tracking, and inventory control. You will ensure that the company's material needs are met in the right quantity and at the right time to support production and other business requirements.
Your main responsibilities
· Develop and maintain material requirement plans to ensure sufficient material supply for production needs.
· Negotiate and execute purchase contracts with suppliers, ensuring material quality and delivery deadlines are met.
· Track the status of material orders to ensure timely arrival.
· Manage inventory levels, optimize stock to avoid overstocking or stockouts.
· Collaborate closely with other departments (such as production, sales, finance) to align material planning with the company's overall strategy.
· Manage activities related to strategic or tactical purchasing, material requirements planning, controlling inventory, warehousing, or receiving.
· Select transportation routes to maximize economy by combining shipments or consolidating warehousing and distribution.
· Define performance metrics for measurement, comparison, or evaluation of supply chain factors, such as product cost or quality.
· Implement new or improved supply chain processes to improve efficiency or performance.
Required Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in logistics management, supply chain management, or a related discipline.
Minimum 3 years of work experience in material planning or a related field.
Required Skills
Proficient in common office software (e.g., Excel, Word, PowerPoint), strong analytical skills, excellent communication and coordination abilities, and problem-solving techniques. Knowledge of procurement, inventory management, and supply chain processes.
Language Skills: Being able to speak Mandarin/Chinese is a plus.
Work Environment
Material Planners typically work in an office environment, but may require phone, email, or face-to-face communication with suppliers or other departments. They may handle a significant amount of data and documentation, requiring strong organization and time management skills.
Career Development
With accumulated experience and enhanced capabilities, Material Planners can progress to higher-level positions such as Material Manager, Supply Chain Manager, or transition into other related areas like procurement, inventory management, or logistics.
