Responsibilities
- Hire, manage and train employees; schedule work for crews; ensure employees follow rules, practices and policies and schedules are met on time
- Review paperwork, such as dailies, timecards, billing, etc to ensure accuracy
- Perform pre and post inspection of jobs, pre-survey work and place one calls; ensure work is complete and clean up is done
- Assist crews as needed
- Represent company with customers, subcontractors, vendors, property owners, utilities, etc.
- Maintain and move equipment
- Ensure all corporate policies and procedures are followed and contribute to company strategies and plans
- Responsible for the safety on his or her jobsite; including all employees for the Company and any other employers near the jobsite
- Ensure that the Company Safety and Loss Control Program is followed on each jobsite under their supervision and that there are no unsafe conditions or acts at each jobsite
- Ensure that the necessary safety equipment is available and is in proper working order at each jobsite under their supervision and that employees are trained in safe procedures related to their job
- Conduct periodic safety inspections, gate checks and Job Safety Observations (JSO) at each jobsite under their supervision
- Investigate all accidents and complete accident report in Intellex within 4 hours of the occurrence of the accident/incident
- Conduct weekly safety meetings with all employees
Qualifications
- Minimum of three (3) to five (5) years utility construction experience
- One (1) to two (2) years proven experience supervising employees and managing crews
- High school diploma or GED required, OR Bachelor’s degree in business, management or construction science with 1-2 years proven supervisory experience.
- To perform this position successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
- Needs the ability to plan, prioritize and organize effectively
- Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with all staff, customers and vendors
- Ability to organize, multi-task, prioritize and re-prioritize daily workload
- Work with minimum supervision
- Ability to meet deadlines, establish deadlines, and to prioritize deadlines
- Must be able to effectively communicate orally or in written form with management, internal and external customers. Advanced mathematical skills required
- General computer knowledge; and requires knowledge in Microsoft Office
- Demonstrate the ability to anticipate and solve practice problems or resolve issues
- Must hold a valid driver’s license and clean driving record (no DUIs or serious traffic violations.) A CDL Class “A” license is a plus.
Physical Requirements
- Duties outlined in this position will require the employee to stand, crouch, sit, bend, use hands and fingers to handle or feel as well as reaching with hands and arms to spaces both high and low. The employee will be standing, walking, climbing, balancing, crawling, crouching, lifting, holding or stooping while on shift
- Must be able to lift/carry 50 lbs regularly and up to 100 LBS as needed with or without assistance
- Employees in this job classification may be exposed to dust, fumes or other airborne pathogens
- Employees may be exposed to toxic or corrosive chemicals as well as moving machinery parts and pieces.
- Remote work may be required; long driving and sitting will be required
- The noise level in the work environment for this position is moderate
- Some work is outdoors so employees in this position may be exposed to outside weather conditions which can include but is not limited to: extreme heat and cold temperatures; inclement weather such as rain, snow, sleet and dust as well as adverse driving conditions including wet roads, icy roads, and fog
