ATTRACTIVE SKILLS/EXPERIENCES:
- Bachelor Degree (required) or Master Degree (preferred) in an engineering discipline (or equivalent)
Experience (7 years) in project management in a manufacturing setting - Experience (7 years) of product management in a manufacturing setting
- Demonstrated communication skills (written / oral) including the ability to read/speak English
- Ability and willingness to work in fast-paced, matrix structured organization
- Ability and willingness to regular business hours (e.g., 8am to 5pm) with flexibility to support the hours of production/operations
SUMMARY / RESPONSIBILITIES: Potential duties/responsibilities for this Applications Engineer include (but are not limited to)…
- Technical Expert - Acts as key-technical contact for customers and sales teams in terms of OEM products, product development or applications
- Technical Expert - Suggests and initiates necessary development measures for technology and product improvements
- Technical Expert - Maintains network with other experts inside and outside the company in accordance with the rules of SCHOTT’s Code of Conduct
- Technical Expert - Negotiates customer specifications at eye level. Acts as owner of the specification(s) for OEM and other standardized products.
- Inquiries/Sales - Handles inquiries on OEM products and verifies technical feasibility. Clarifies technical questions with contacts in Technical Centers, Supply Chain Management and Purchasing. Proposes solutions and provides cost estimations for quotations
- Inquiries/Sales - Responsible for technical negotiations of product specifications with customers observing the commercial objectives of the respective product
- Inquiries/Sales - Responsible for internal and external approvals for changes in product specifications and / or productions processes, materials and suppliers
- Inquiries/Sales - Leads or participates in projects on the basis of customer inquiries
- Inquiries/Sales - Performs competitive analyses, including benchmarking of products and technologies
- Support Tasks - Provides technical information for communication and training purposes and keeps them up to date
Support Tasks - Trains sales teams on new products, applications and technologies - Support Tasks - Coordinates production of prototypes for customers and trade shows
- Support Tasks - Supports Quality Department in solving internal and external complaints
Support Tasks - Supports the global or regional product strategy; supports Division in Roadmap definition; makes suggestions for annual R&D planning - Support Tasks - Sets up and maintains product file (e.g. medical product file according to medical certification if applicable).
