About the Position:

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Plant Manager to join our team. As the Plant Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the Meat Processing Facility, including kill floor, cut & wrap, VAP department, inventory management, ordering, and ensuring high-quality products are produced according to HACCP plans and our quality recipes. Your Role:

1. Meat Processing Expertise: Demonstrate expert knowledge and skills in meat cutting, utilizing a variety of equipment to produce precise and high-quality cuts of beef and pork.

2. Kill Floor Operations: Manage the operations on the kill floor, ensuring humane handling of cattle and pigs, efficient processing, and compliance with all regulatory and animal welfare standards.

3. Packaging Supervision: Oversee the packaging process to ensure products are correctly prepared, packaged, and labeled to meet quality standards and customer expectations.

4. Value-Added Product Management: Work with the VAP manager to ensure the production of value-added products, ensuring innovation, quality, and consistency in items such as bacon, sausages, hams, and prepared meats.

5. Team Leadership and Training: Lead, train, and manage the processing plant workers, fostering a team-oriented environment, ensuring skill development, and maintaining high productivity and morale.

6. Quality Control and Food Safety: Uphold the highest standards of food safety and quality, conducting regular checks and coordinating with the quality control team to address any issues promptly.

7. Operational Efficiency: Streamline operations to maximize efficiency and productivity, while minimizing waste and optimizing resource use.

8. Compliance and Standards Adherence: Ensure all processing activities comply with industry regulations, including USDA standards, and that all procedures adhere to the plant’s operational protocols.

9. Safety Management: Promote and enforce strict safety practices on the kill floor and throughout the processing plant to prevent accidents and injuries.

10. Continuous Improvement: Continually assess and improve processes, techniques, and outputs, leveraging best practices in meat processing and staying abreast of industry innovations.

11. Workforce Coordination: Schedule and coordinate the workforce to ensure optimal staffing levels across all processing activities, adapting to seasonal fluctuations and production demands.

Who You Are:

  • A seasoned meat processing professional with extensive experience in butchery, particularly with beef and pork.
  • Skilled in managing kill floor operations, with a strong commitment to humane and efficient processing practices.
  • Proficient in overseeing meat packaging processes, ensuring products are prepared, packaged, and labeled correctly.
  • Passionate about developing and producing high-quality, value-added food products.
  • Experienced in leading and training teams, fostering a culture of safety, efficiency, and quality within the workforce.
  • Committed to upholding the highest standards of food safety and regulatory compliance in all processing activities
  • Strong knowledge of HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point) guidelines
  • Solutions-oriented with a continuous improvement mindset, constantly seeking to enhance processes and product quality.
  • Excellent communicator and organizer, capable of effectively coordinating plant operations and meeting production objectives.
  • Excellent knife skills and ability to safely operate cutting equipment and maintain staff’s adherence to wearing appropriate personal protective equipment.
  • Ability to lift heavy objects and stand for extended periods

Salary & Benefits:

  • Competitive salary, $95,000-$125,000, commensurate with experience and expertise in the meat processing industry.
