Business Banking Specialist

Our Business Banking Specialist candidate must have strong organizational and customer service skills for interacting with business banking customers and supporting Business Banking Relationship Managers. This person acts as the coordinator of the business banking process, which includes but is not limited to, working with customers, Business Banking Relationship Managers, Portfolio Managers, loan operations, deposit operations, treasury management and third parties. The Business Banking Specialist should have knowledge of, or desire to learn about, business, agricultural and commercial real estate loans, as well as deposit and treasury management products and services.

The selected candidate could have a flexible work schedule between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. after a successful training period.


Essential Job Functions

  • Greets customers over the phone and in-person and directs them to the appropriate Business Banking Relationship Manager or Portfolio Manager.
  • Provides administrative support to the Business Banking Relationship Managers, including, but not limited to, creating new loan files, maintain existing loan files; ordering preliminary title reports, appraisals, environmental reports, insurance information, and various other items. Responsible for efficiently coordinating all elements of business banking workflow through loan documentation and closing.
  • Works with loan operations and deposit operations to provide support for business banking customers, including but not limited to processing loan payments.
  • May review title documents and insurance information during the application process.
  • May provide support to Treasury Management with day-to-day functions including customer issues.
  • Ability to deal effectively with time pressures and stress that can change hourly depending on level of activity; and ability to multi-task and prioritize requests.
  • Updates knowledge and develops professionally on a continuing basis including regulatory and documentation requirements. Participates in internal and external training and development opportunities as required.
  • Other job-related duties may be necessary to carry out the responsibilities of this position.


Equipment Used

Operates personal computer in a Windows environment for word processing, spreadsheets, e- mail, internet/intranet and other bank specific software. Utilizes a variety of office equipment including: computer printer, ten-key calculator, copy/fax machine, and multi-line telephone.


Working Conditions

Work is performed largely in an office environment, during normal business hours. Deadline pressure is an integral part of the job. Regular mental and visual concentration for computer usage and reading/assimilating complex and technical compliance information is
required. Position will alternate between walking, sitting, standing, stooping, bending, and occasional lifting up to 15 pounds of office supplies and/or documents throughout work shift.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • One to three years banking or related industry experience is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of commercial loan documentation and compliance is highly desirable.
  • Must possess courteous and professional customer service attitude and communication skill.

  • Must possess effective problem-solving skills, attention to detail and proven organizational skills.
  • Must possess basic mathematical skills.
  • Must possess strong computer skills and technical ability to input and retrieve computerized information.
  • Ability to maintain the integrity of highly confidential customer and Bank information.
