POSITION SUMMARY: Assists the Chief Operating Officer in planning, controlling, and directing State Bank of Chilton’s accounting and financial reporting systems. Participates in analysis and preparation of regular reports to depict the financial status of the bank. Assists with the development, implementation and maintenance of accounting systems which provide for control of Bank assets/maintenance of financial database.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITES
- Leads the daily operation of accounting functions including general ledger processing and maintenance, accounts payable, reconciliations, prepaid and accrual expenses, and financial reporting.
- Manage the Bank’s general ledger system.
- Coordinating daily cash position reporting and executing operational movements as needed.
- Coordinates month-end close process
- Completes the month-end close process by balancing and resolving any exceptions to the general ledger identified through financial analysis.
- Monitors actual financial performance results compared to budgeted results and identifies and resolves any variances.
- Prepares regulatory reports including the Call Report and FR2900.
- Assist in asset/liability and liquidity reporting and analysis.
- Assisting in ensuring ALCO assumptions are current and supported.
- Implement new tools and software to bring efficiency to processes and procedures.
- Prepares regular financial reports including income statement, balance sheet, ratio analysis, etc. and presents to senior management as requested and/or scheduled. The ability to present financial information to the Board of Directors, Employees and Outside Parties is needed and will likely occur on a regular basis.
- Coordinate with external accountant to prepare and/or review annual tax returns for the HC and K1s for Shareholders and meet regulatory requirements.
- Serve as the expert resource for accounting inquiries and solutions.
- Ensuring a strong internal control environment and integrity of general ledger and communicating key controls.
- Completes all accounting functions for the holding company, including general ledger, capital accounting, regulatory capital calculations, and projections.
- Corporate Secretary/Treasurer for HC and primary shareholder contact. Directing payment of dividends, stock transactions and related tasks.
- Manage and perform backup role to all payroll related activities of the Bank. This responsibility includes supervising the editing and processing of bi-weekly payrolls with an accounting firm and 401k contribution submissions.
- Preparing Business Analytics reports for financial reporting and analysis.
- Oversees bank’s daily investments of federal funds sold or short-term borrowing of federal funds purchased.
- Coaches and develops employees. Assures effective communication and communicates goals and financial results.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business administration or other related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential functions of the job.
- Three or more years of strategic accounting management or other related experience including use of GAAP, accounting, budgeting, banking, reconciliations, asset liability management, federal and state regulations, operations, and finance.
- Advanced financial skills including accounts payable, accounts receivable and general ledger entries.
- Three or more years of leadership and management experience.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Three or more years of banking experience.
- Certified Public Accounting (CPA) accreditation.
- Proficiency in financial software and systems (experience with Fiserv Cleartouch, Prologue Accounts Payable, and/or InformEnt iVue Business Analytics is a plus)
