Responsibilities
James F. Butler & Associates, insurance staff counsel for State Farm Insurance Companies, is seeking a trial attorney to join the Westchester (Harrison) NY Claim Litigation office. Selected candidate will be responsible for handling a high-volume caseload from discovery stage through trial. Competitive candidates will demonstrate an exceptional knowledge of civil procedure along with evidence and trial procedures. The selected candidate will possess outstanding research abilities, written and oral advocacy skills, and will be well organized, detail oriented, and have the ability to independently manage a busy time sensitive caseload. The position is classified as a hybrid role, meaning that the work arrangement calls for hours in the office and virtually. Everyone in a hybrid role is required to spend some time in the office. Work arrangements could change over time based on business needs.
The selected candidate should plan to spend time working both in the Westchester office and from home (if desired) as part of a hybrid work arrangement. Work arrangements could change over time based on business needs.
Based in Jericho, NY, with our satellite office in Westchester (Harrison), NY, we enjoy an active and busy civil trial practice. We provide a congenial, team-oriented, and professional work environment with skilled support staff.

Qualifications
- Law degree from ABA accredited law school and excellent academic credentials
- An active license to practice law in New York and be a member in good standing with the state bar
- 1-10 years of insurance defense litigation/trial experience
- Experience working in a paperless environment
- Experience directing support staff on clerical and administrative matters related to lawsuit handling
- Strong automation/technological skills for lawsuit handling and courtroom presentation
- Potential salary range: $125,625.00-$160,000.00 (starting salary will be based on background and experience)
- Potential yearly incentive pay up to 16% of base salary (results may vary from year to year)
- Applicants are required to be eligible to lawfully work in the U.S. immediately; employer will not sponsor applicants for US work authorization for this opportunity
