Responsibilities
- Perform credit analysis on existing portfolio holdings and potential new investments, including analysis of the economic, demographic, and financial characteristics of municipal bond issuers such as state and local governments, school districts, utility systems, institutions of higher education, and toll roads within State Farm’s $52 billion municipal bond portfolio
- Conduct research on sector trends and developments within the segments of the municipal market
- Present analytical conclusions and recommendations in a collaborative, team-based environment
- Present investment recommendations to senior leaders and experienced investment professionals through written reports and oral presentations
- Current graduate students who have completed first year graduate studies by start of the summer internship. Master of Public Policy, Master of Public Administration, Master of Business Administration, or Master of Finance candidates preferred
- Evidence of academic (3.5 GPA or above preferred) and personal achievement
- Coursework in areas such as state and local tax policy, economics, statistics, fixed income investments, or state and local governmental accounting preferred
- Analytical, inquisitive, energetic, detail oriented, and self-driven with strong written and verbal communication skills and an ability to articulate and support research findings
- Ability to collaborate and engage in a dynamic team setting
- Initiative and drive for continuous learning
- Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States at the time of hire
