Anchorage, Soldotna, Wasilla, Haines salary: $28.31 hourlyFairbanks salary: $29.16 hourlyJuneau salary: $29.73 hourlyValdez salary: $31.42 hourlyWhat you will be doing: The Cost Recovery section of the Division of Spill Prevention and Response (SPAR) is actively seeking a qualified individual to fill the integral role of Accounting Technician 3. Under the general supervision of the Accountant 4, this position is responsible for establishing and maintaining accounting structures, preparing adjusting journal entries, researching and resolving billing issues, assisting with monthly cost recovery billing, and serving as the primary point of contact for stakeholder inquiries. Additionally, this role provides essential backup support for another Accounting Technician 3 on the team. If you possess strong attention to detail, excellent customer service skills, and thrive in a collaborative team environment, we encourage you to apply and contribute to our mission!Our organization, mission, and culture: The Response Fund Administration (RFA) section within SPAR is committed to managing the Oil and Hazardous Substance Release Prevention and Response Fund (OHSRPRF) as a viable, long-term funding source for the state’s core spill prevention and response programs. Within RFA, the Cost Recovery team is responsible for managing expenses and revenues in the Prevention Account of the OHSRPRF, recovering state costs from responsible parties. The Accounting Technician 3 position is pivotal in supporting RFA's mission. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Two years of technical level accounting or bookkeeping experience, of which at least one year was at the full-proficiency level.Substitutions: Certification as an Accounting Technician from an accredited college will substitute for one year of the required experience at the non-full-proficiency level.Post secondary education from an accredited college will substitute for up to one year of the required experience at the non-full-proficiency level (3 semester/4 quarter hours equal one month) if it includes at least 6 semester/8 quarter hours in Accounting.Post secondary education from an accredited college will substitute for the required two years of experience (3 semester/4 quarter hours equal one month) if it includes at least 9 semester/12 quarter hours at or above the 200 level in Accounting.An associate’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration from an accredited college will substitute for the required two years of experience if it includes at least 6 semester/8 quarter hours at or above the 200 level in Accounting.
