The Department of Corrections, Division of Institutions, is recruiting for
an Administrative Officer 1 position at Lemon Creek Correctional Center (LCCC) located in Juneau, Alaska.

What you will be doing:
Under the general supervision of the Correctional Superintendent 2, provide comprehensive financial, procurement and human resource services. This position leads the work of an Office Assistant 2.

The working environment you can expect:
Lemon Creek Correctional Center serves both as an intake and a long-term male facility. At any given time, 20% to 30% of the population is composed of inmates in pre-trial status. Approximately 80% of the population is composed of sentenced felons.

Who we are looking for:
The ideal candidate will possess the following strengths, skills, and abilities:
  • Ability to work cooperatively with supply users and supply vendors;
  • Ability to perform arithmetical calculations in order to compute discounts and totals for supply orders;
  • Ability to gather data from supply users, vendors and published material;
  • Ability to read, interpret and apply supply regulations and procedures, contract awards manual and vendor catalogs;
  • Strong attention to detail and exceptional ability to multi-task; *Valid Driver's License is desirable for this position.

Minimum Qualifications

Four years of experience providing administrative support to a business or organization, of which at least two years were as an Administrative Assistant 2, Accounting Technician 2, Human Resource Technician 2, Procurement Specialist 1, or similar or higher level administrative classes with the State of Alaska or the equivalent with another employer.

Substitutions:
A bachelor's degree from an accredited college in business administration, public administration, finance, banking, accounting, industrial relations, marketing, human resource management, logistics and supply chain management, or a similar business field will substitute for the required experience.

Post-secondary education from an accredited college in any field will substitute for the two years of non-specific administrative support experience (3 semester or 4 quarter hours equals one month).

BACKGROUND CHECKS & ACOMS/APSIN
Please be aware – this position requires the use of the Alaska Corrections Offender Management System (ACOMS) and the Alaska Public Safety Information Network (APSIN). A security clearance issued by the Department of Public Safety (DPS) is necessary to use ACOMS and APSIN. DPS will deny security clearance for any applicant who has been convicted of a felony or misdemeanor in this state or another jurisdiction, or who may be a fugitive from justice. Additionally, security clearance will be withdrawn if DPS discovers that material information was falsified or omitted at the time of the initial application for security clearance. Approved clearance must be maintained for these systems based on the duties assigned to this position.
