This position is being recruited for in Anchorage, Juneau, Fairbanks, Wasilla, Soldotna. Pay will be determined based on location of selected individual.
Anchorage, Wasilla, Soldotna salary: $2,123.25 biweekly / $2,446.50 biweekly
Fairbanks salary: $2,187.00 biweekly / $2,520.00 biweekly
Juneau salary: $2,229.75 biweekly / $2,568.75 biweekly

What you will be doing:
The Division of Environmental Health (EH) is seeking a motivated and proficient individual for an Analyst/Programmer 2/3 flex position. Primary development technologies include C# .Net and T-SQL using current versions of Microsoft Visual Studio and SQL Server Management Studio. Responsibilities include requirements analysis, coding, documentation, troubleshooting, reporting, and user support

The Department of Environmental Conservation mission is "Conserving, improving, and protecting Alaska's natural resources and environment to enhance the health, safety, and economic and social well-being of Alaskans." This position is a part of the Division of Environmental Health IT team supporting software systems for five programs within the division: Director’s Office, Food Safety & Sanitation, Solid Waste & Pesticides, Office of the State Veterinarian, and Laboratory Services. The physical location of this position will depend on the applicant and will be in one of our major offices in Anchorage, Fairbanks, Juneau, Wasilla, or Soldotna. We are looking for a candidate that has experience in the following areas:

  • Computer Skills: Uses computers, software applications, databases, and automated systems to accomplish work.

  • Problem Solving: Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.
  • Writing: Recognizes or uses correct English grammar, punctuation, and spelling; communicates information (for example, facts, ideas, or messages) in a succinct and organized manner; produces written information, which may include technical material, that is appropriate for the intended audience.

Minimum Qualifications

Analyst/Programmer 1 (Range 16):


One year of computer programming experience in a recognized computer language. One year of the experience must have been in a business application, scientific application, microcomputer or computer system user support specialty.

Substitution:

A bachelor's degree with a major in Computer Science (CS) or Computer Information Systems (CIS), or a related degree with (18) semester/(24) quarter hours of CS or CIS may substitute for all of the required experience. An associate's degree in Computer Science or Computer Information Systems may substitute for nine months of the required experience.

Special Note:

An applicant who is considered under the Substitution above qualifies to apply for this job class IF the applicable coursework is completed within three (3) months of hire. Under this option, an applicant may receive a conditional job offer; however, proof of completion will be required prior to final appointment and reporting for duty.

Individual positions at each level in this class series may require expertise in a particular area of programming or analysis. Recruitment and selection will be on the basis of these requirements.

For some positions in these job classes, a background investigation including fingerprinting is required.


Analyst/Programmer 2 (Range 18):
