What you will be doing:
Under the supervision of the Food Service Foreman for Anvil Mountain Correctional Center. This occupation involves planning, preparation or serving of food and drink, and includes the full range of food items and preparation methods (e.g., preparing raw foods, cutting meats, cooking by baking, frying, sautéing, broiling, steaming, and grilling), and/or serving, cleaning and washing equipment and areas. This level does routine and repetitive kitchen tasks such as simple food preparations prior to cooking or serving raw; compiles and prepares ingredients prior to cooking. This position performs journey-level work and directs and reviews the tasks assigned to journey and lower-level food service staff.

Anvil Mountain Correctional Center is a minimum/medium custody facility that houses up to 150 inmates. You will be working closely with inmates and other staff on a daily basis.

PREA NOTIFICATION
The Department of Corrections follows and maintains federal and state requirements standards including, but not limited to, Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) standards which apply to all public and private institutions that house adult or juvenile offenders. Please be aware – this position requires the use of the Alaska Public Safety Information Network (APSIN)/Alaska Corrections Offender Management System (ACOMS). A security clearance issued by the Department of Public Safety (DPS) is necessary to use APSIN/ACOMS. DPS will deny security clearance for any applicant who has been convicted of a felony or misdemeanor in this state or another jurisdiction, or who may be a fugitive from justice. Additionally, security clearance will be withdrawn if DPS discovers that material information was falsified or omitted at the time of the initial application for security clearance.
