What you will be doing:
Supervise the location surveying functions within the Right-of-Way Engineering section. Administer and coordinate the work of staff and consultant surveyors in the preparation of topographic, land boundary, right-of-way, hydrographic, and control surveys for highways, airports, ferry terminals, harbors and public facilities. This position is responsible for the accurate production of plans, plats and legal descriptions for highway Right-of-Way acquisitions and provides engineering support to the Appraisal, Negotiation, and Property Management sections within the Right-of-Way. Other duties as assigned by the Land Survey Manager.

Who we are looking for:Any combination of education and/or experience that provides the applicant with the core competencies of:
Surveying: Knowledge of the concepts, principles, theories, and methods used in the measurement or determination of land boundaries, distances, elevations, areas, angles, and other features of the earth’s surface.
Attention to Detail: Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail.
Computer Skills: Uses computers, software applications, databases, and automated systems to accomplish work.
Design: Knowledge of conceptualizing, developing, producing, understanding, and using plans, models, blueprints, and maps, including the use of tools and instruments to produce precision technical drawings, working prototypes, components, or systems.
Teamwork: Encourages and facilitates cooperation, pride, trust, and group identity; fosters commitment and team spirit; works with others to achieve goals.
Minimum Qualifications
Registration as a Professional Land Surveyor in Alaska AND one year experience as a registered Land Surveyor.
Special Note:
Registration as a Professional Land Surveyor in Alaska is required for appointment to this job class. Applicants registered in another state may apply, but appointment is conditional upon receiving Alaskan registration as a Professional Land Surveyor. Registration may be allowed without examination to applicants holding registration in another state with similar requirements.
