This position is on the AHCCCS Actuarial Team. The successful candidate will assist the team with capitation rate development including directed payments, help monitor the medical encounter experience submitted by the Contractors providing Medicaid services to members under managed care contracts, help with Requests For Proposals (RFPs) and clearly and accurately document all processes for review by a supervisor. The candidate will be responsible for learning, understanding, and applying knowledge related to regulations and guidance propagated by the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) as well as the CMS Office of the Actuary (OACT) as part of the capitation rate development and review process, in addition to following actuarial standards of practice as propagated by the Actuarial Standards Board (ASB).
Major duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- The position will also be responsible for ad hoc analyses as assigned by their supervisor, as well as reviewing revisions to policies/laws/regulations for impacts to AHCCCS programs, and implementing process improvements as appropriate based on the functional team they are part of in the months when capitation rate development is not the first priority.
- The position will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including clinical, financial, operational, rates and reimbursement, directed payments, budget, policy and contract areas.
This position is available for remote work on a full-time basis within Arizona (including virtual office arrangements).

Qualifications:
Minimum:
- Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, actuarial science, finance, economics, or statistics. Bachelor's degree in other majors in combination with two years experience with financial analysis and/or capitation rate setting.
Preferred:
- Experience with Medicaid managed health care preferred.
Pre-Employment Requirements:
