Note:  Work schedule for this position will be Monday through Friday 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Occasional weekends, holidays and evening hours may be required with schedule subject to change based on the needs of the campus. An essential function of this position will be to exert up to 100 lbs. of force occasionally and/or up to 50 lbs. of force frequently, and/or up to 20 lbs. of force constantly to move objects. Successful candidate must be able to communicate verbally and be able to read and comprehend written directions on labels, machinery and in manuals, etc. Must be able to withstand work in all types of temperatures for long periods of time. Must be able to perform work at various locations of height. This position will also require constant or frequent climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, pushing, pulling and reaching. You must be able to perform this level of physical exertion in order to be considered for this position.  
 

Position is located in the Facilities Department at Arapahoe Community College and provides a safe environment through preventive maintenance throughout the college facilities and grounds. This position provides maintenance and facilities support to the College by performing all phases of construction tasks including demolition, framing, ceiling installation, cabinetry, and assisting with plumbing and electrical. Keeps orderly working records of chemicals, equipment, tools, locations, and processes. Must be available during working and non-working hours to operate snow plows, blowers, tractors, trucks, vehicles, spreaders, and hand shovels along with other Facilities staff members to provide safe access to the buildings during inclement weather. Available as directed by a supervisor or the Facilities Director to assist other Facilities staff members to accomplish tasks or projects when extra resources are needed and/or as duties are assigned. Every ACC faculty and staff member is expected to participate in the assessment process of the College, utilizing the results of assessment for continuous institutional improvement.

Position will provide excellent customer service in communicating with internal and external customers regarding project progress and customer satisfaction. Position will utilize a computer to complete timesheets, leave requests, invoices, spend down sheets, task sheets, work orders, etc. Read and respond to email, create correspondence, etc. Utilize Microsoft Office 365 to include Outlook and Word. Position will be required to have a valid driver's license in order to operate state vehicles. Must be a team player and work well with others.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 
 
Experience Only:

Four years of progressively responsible experience in the structural trades (building maintenance trades including carpentry, painting, plumbing and  electrical maintenance). Application must list specific experience related to this position. Must possess excellent customer service skills to include communicating with and responding to all levels of employees in a professional environment. Do not use "see resume" statements on application. Your application must be completed in its entirety describing your experience in order to be considered. (Part-time experience will be pro-rated)

OR

Education and Experience:

Successful completion of a formalized apprenticeship program or higher level course work from an accredited, non-correspondence, vocational or trades school in Construction Technology or Property Maintenance may substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis. A copy of your transcripts must be submitted with your application prior to the application deadline in order to be considered.


Preferred Qualifications:  
Knowledgeable in building codes. Experience installing drop ceilings. Ability to finish drywall to a grade 5 level. Experience using power-actuated tools. Experience operating automated HVAC programs such as Honeywell, Alerton, Johnson and Trane controls. Lead paint awareness. Experience reading blueprints. Well rounded individual able to switch from one trade to another with ease. Planning and organizing skills. Team player. Ability to multitask and be a self-starter.

Conditions of Employment:  
Must possess and maintain a valid State of Colorado driver's license to independently drive company vehicles and equipment around the campus, pick up parts, attend meetings, etc. Ability to read blueprints for individual projects. Must submit to and successfully complete a pre-employment background check to include a motor vehicle report (MVR) as a condition of hire. Felony convictions or conviction of crimes of moral turpitude or convictions of misdemeanors related to job duties may disqualify you from consideration for this position. Should your background check reveal any charges and convictions, it is your responsibility to provide ACC Office of Human Resources with an official disposition of the charges. Position is required to be on-call in rotation to perform essential and/or emergency services of the agency without delay and/or interruption.
